Learning To Use The Potty (private for Carrie96 and me)

Paul finished cleaning the kitchen before joining them in the living room.

Sharon had been reading on her phone as she rocked him and hadn't realized he had fallen asleep. When she felt him shift and then heard a faint trickling sound come from his diaper, she realized he was wetting himself. Once he was sleeping soundly again, she carefully changed his diaper and zipped his pajamas back up before tucking him into bed.

James stirred as Sharon changed his diaper, and then he woke up when she laid him down in his toddler bed.

"Shh, sweetheart, it's okay. I'll stay with you until you fall asleep. If you wake up later and don't feel good, come get me, okay?" Sharon sat with James until he was asleep and tiptoed out of the room.

James woke up again in the middle of the night.

Sharon jerked awake when she heard James beside her. "Honey, what's the matter?" She slowly sat up and pulled him into her lap.

"No feel good," James pouted.

[Carrie96]

"Oh, sweetie." Sharon instinctively pressed her hand to his forehead. "You feel warm. Let's go get some medicine, and then you can sleep in here with Daddy and me, okay?" Sharon picked James up and held him close as she walked him to the kitchen.

James snuggled into Sharon, trying to get warm.

"I know, baby. We'll get under the covers in just a minute, okay?" Sharon sat James on the counter and got the children's Tylenol and a sippy cup of juice for him. Once she'd fed him the medicine and let him drink some juice, she picked him up and checked his diaper, realizing he was wet. "Let's go change your diaper really quick, and then we'll go get back in bed with Daddy."

James lay miserably on Sharon's shoulder.

"It's okay, sweetheart. You were sleeping and didn't know you had to go potty. You'll pee-pee while you're sleeping sometimes for a while, and that's okay. You're still too little to stay dry every night, and that's why you still sleep in a diaper. I expect you to wet it at night a good bit."

Warm and comfortable in Sharon's arms, James fell asleep again pretty quickly.

Sharon sensed the empty bed and got up a few minutes later. She found Paul and James in the kitchen.

Paul felt James's forehead as he walked into the kitchen.

Sharon walked over to James and kissed his warm forehead. "Hi, honey. How are you feeling?"

"Yucky," James pouted.

[Carrie96]

"I know, baby. I'm sorry." Sharon looked at Paul. "Have you given him any medicine?"

Sharon ate breakfast, got dressed for the day, and went to relieve Paul so he could get ready for work. She was off today, so she didn't have to worry about trying to get anything done.

Paul stood up when Sharon came in and let her sit down before he handed James to her.

Sharon reminded James to tell her when he needed to go potty. She couldn't tell what he was wearing under his pajamas because of the blanket, and she hadn't thought to ask Paul before he left, but she assumed James was in a pull-up, or maybe even a diaper. Paul was such a pushover when it came to James. She had stopped asking him every so often if he had to potty when he started having fewer accidents during the day, as he was getting used to stopping and thinking about whether he needed to go every now and then. She still made him go at certain times, like before and after naps and before getting in the car, though.

James lay against Sharon and watched the movie, and he started

"Wha--uh-oh, sweetie, you have to pee-pee?" She could tell he'd already lost control, so she didn't try to rush him to the toilet, knowing he'd be finished wetting before they even made it there.

James squeezed his crotch and was able to stop the flow for a second, but he completely lost control and started wetting his pants uncontrollably just a moment later.
