James eyed the underwear warily. He was okay with wearing them at home, but he wasn't ready to give up his pull-ups when they left the house.

A couple of months later, James was three months away from turning three, and he was doing a lot better with using the potty.

"Not quite," Paul answered.

"Not anymore, but it's about to come out again!" James said, with desperation in his voice. He squeezed his legs together and clutched his crotch as hard as he could. "I'll take him." Paul jumped up,

Paul sat on the couch to watch the movie with Sharon and James. Near the end of the movie, James was starting to have to pee-pee pretty bad, and he started to just let it out like he'd done the last couple of days in the lake.

James looked confused.

James nodded and cuddled against Sharon to watch the movie.

James was able to let out a little bit of pee-pee when his mommy took him to the potty, but he'd gotten most of it out while he was sleeping.

"Training pants," James said quickly.

James looked thoughtful.

James nodded, trying to look sad.

James unconsciously spooned himself into Sharon's side when she got in the bed, never waking.

James was exhausted and fell asleep quickly.

James struggled to hold his eyes open, but he was still awake when they got home.

After lunch, Paul and Sharon gathered their things, got James to try to potty, and put his diaper and pajamas on, intending to put him down for a nap as soon as they got home.

A little while later, James pee-peed in the water, barely aware that he was doing so. Being in the water made it harder for him to realize when he had to go or when he was doing so, since he was already wet, and the lake water wasn't that cold.

"Play in water, Daddy!" James shrieked. "I do owe you a 'hangover day' of taking care of James from a couple of months ago," Paul admitted.

Paul cleaned James up, rinsed out his training pants and clothes, and added them to the plastic bag with the training

Paul took James from Sharon and carried him to the room they'd slept in, holding James in front of him, away from his body. James sniffled, not liking being held this way.

"His diaper was so wet this morning, I thought there was no way he had to go again," Paul answered.

"I sorry, Mommy, I didn't know I had to go!" James said, his eyes filling with tears. Paul came over when he heard the commotion.

James was too tired to realize he had to go potty until he felt his training pants getting wet.

James cuddled against Sharon, still a little drowsy and tired from the day before.

"I wet my jammies," James mumbled. "I think our plan to tire them out last night backfired," Paul added.

When the boys woke up the next morning, they were both wet. James had soaked through his diaper, and Carter had wet through his pull-up, as well.
