Carrie nodded quickly. She put her whole thumb in her mouth now and squeezed her bear tight. She was happy someone finally understood her.

Mary had little choice thought and eventually got her up the stairs with just enough energy to put her on the bed.

"You're going to have to help me, honey.

Carrie frowned. At home, her father usually carried her when necessary. Usually Carrie would walk to bed unless she was too tired, frustrated, or already asleep.

Mary saw her tense up, and she pulled her into her lap and she hugged her.

"Honey?

Carrie teared up and started to cry. Even to her parents, she didn't have the words to explain how she felt. Emotions are tricky for any kid, let alone one who was a non-verbal autistic.

Mary smiled as she finally fell asleep, and she tucked her into bed to let her rest.

She didn't know whatelse to do for her, but she knew that the children would need a lot of time to adjust.

She went down stairs to relax finally, after a long morning with kids being cranky at each other!

Macy had woken up soaked as usual and made her way to her mother about an hour after taking a nap.

David looked back at Aunt Mary.

"When to the others get out of school, or get home?"

Elizabeth usually got home at four.

David saw his little cousin cuddling with his aunt, and he frowned.

Mary sighed.

"You watch after your sister, David.

Macy quickly put her shoes on, ignoring the lacea for the time being. She could do them with enough focus, though she never wanted to sit still long enough. She quickly pulled her jacket on and smiled.

Mary smiled and picked her up again so she couldn't trip over the untied laces.

She took her out to the car, and then went to get Sarah.

Sarah came running out soon enough, climbing into the backseat. The second grader was holding a big black box. It was the beginning of her solar system project she was supposed to work on.

Mary smiled.

"I'm picking up some chicken at Kentucky today, girls.

("Science projects" it's basically just different colored and sized balls on sticks. At that age they call it that when really it's not too complicated.)

"I know momma." Sarah said showing her mom she had already done it.

"I'm sorry, but today was really stressful," she said.

"Hey!" Macy protested. "I not a baby!" She insisted. At her age, being called a baby was probably one of the biggest insults possible. Even if it was true, she liked to think of herself as a big girl like her sisters.

Mary noticed the very quiet demeanor in her daughter almost instantly.

Sarah frowned even more. That made her seem like more of a baby. Plus, she doubted her big sister would want to share a room with a girl she just met who was four years younger than her.

Mary still had to think about it some.

"Mashey do!" Macy piped up cheerfullly. She wanted to show her mommy she was a big girl and she could help, despite her mother calling her a baby.

Mary smiled and nodded at Macy.

Macy frowned. She really wanted to be carried, but had to show she was a big girl.

"Yes, Macy, yes, tatoes and gravy," she agreed.

"Momma I want soda too." Sarah said sadly. "I'm not a baby no more!" She didn't find it fair
