Katie's Intruder

[Ishigreensa]

After getting advice from the doctor, he hung up the phone and he parked the car at a park instead.

Katie sighed and listened to her dad. She nodded and let her dad take her into her lap. She tried not to act like she liked it too much. She didn't want her dad to get used to her being in his lap. She usually didn't want to be in her dad's lap but right now she needed it.

He patted her back and rocked her slightly.

"Don't worry," he whispered to her.

Katie nodded. She could use some comforting to be honest. She tried her best not to cry, but everything was so frustrating. She let out a heavy sigh, not sure what to do or say.

John continued to rock her not really sure what he could say either.

Katie was starting to relax in her father's arms until he brought up Jen. It seemed like he was always talking about her. She didn't like having the girl there. It seemed like her parents were trying to replace her honestly. Why else would they decide without her knowing? She has a phone and her parents could've called her or picked her up from school rather than be surprised with someone new in the house. And in Katie's mind, at the moment it didn't feel like there was enough love for the both of them.

John smiled and hugged her and rocked her a little longer trying to keep her as relaxed as he could.

Katie tugged away from her father eventually. She shook her head and tried to hide her tears. She felt like she was the problem child now with all her issues. She let out a heavy sigh.

John let her tug away, but he looked seriously at her for a minute.

"Are you okay, Katie?

[Shy-Diapers]

Katie shrugged. "My sugar is fine dad." She said climbing into the car.

[Ishigreensa]

"You know, that is a good idea," he told her.

[Shy-Diapers]

Katie smiled at her father. She gave him a hug.

"Well, we can do it today, honey, but I'm worried about your feeling right now.

[Shy-Diapers]

"Okay daddy." Katie said smiling. She'd need to eat something again soon, as the insulin would be delivered again then, and it's not good to have it on an empty stomach.

[Ishigreensa]

"That sounds really good, honey, but can I please check your sugar level, too?

[Shy-Diapers]

Katie sighed. "The doctor explained to me how to tell. If it's under 70 then it's low. And it's at 60 right now. I know just as well as you do about this. It's not like you have experience with it."

She was getting a little snappy with him, feeling like after all they just went through he didn't trust her. She sighed. She wasn't so interested in eating with her dad anymore.

John frowned.

"Honey, I am not experienced in this.

[Shy-Diapers]

"Dad she showed both of us. I know just as much as you do." Katie said grabbing a chocolate covered granola bar from the cupboard. "Let me have my independence."

She shook her head at him.

[Ishigreensa]

John frowned.

"Honey?

[Shy-Diapers]

"I did." Katie said quietly. She had been trying to show her dad that she can still love him and be his little girl that he wanted, but still be and independent young woman at the same time.

[Ishigreensa]

John sighed and walked slowly up the stairs and he knocked on her door when he came up and heard something get thrown at the door.

"Katie?

[Shy-Diapers]

"Fine." Katie mumbled, holding her stuffed toy to her chest.

[Ishigreensa]

"Well, actually, it's what you want to tell me," he said sitting on her bed.

[Shy-Diapers]

"I was trying to show you I can be independent and I can still be close to you and be your little girl but be a young woman too." Katie said sadly. She had made an effort to compromise and make them both happy but her dad didn't understand.

[Ishigreensa]

He nodded.

"I see, and I ruined it, right?
