"Um..." he was very protective of her in public, and when she was younger, he would often make her hold it until they got home because he didn't like her going in by herself, that is, when she got too old to go in the bathroom with him.

John opened the door for her and helped her get her chair in.

Then he turned and locked the door before taking her over where the toilet was.

"Are you wet, then?" he whispered to her.

"Yeah I wet during the movie." Jen said blushing. "I knew I wouldn't be able to make it and I'm not supposed to hold it and I didn't want to miss the movie." She said turning her head away. She was clearly very embarrassed.

"It's okay," he said.

"Now, I know this embarrasses you, so here is what we are going to do...."

He helped her up and checked her pants and chair to make sure it wasn't wet.

"Honey, I don't know."

He pressed her call button to get a doctor to come and help her.

They had not told him that the nerve damage would make her unable to move her legs.

He nodded and pulled the blankets off of her to start changing her.

"Wow, baby, you're pretty wet."

He pulled out her soaked diaper and rolled it up.

Then he started to clean her up just as the nurse came back to check on her.

"Sorry she said when she saw him changing her.

Jen nodded. "My charcoal stuff is too hard to transport without breaking anyway. Just the big tin of pencils and the smaller one of non colored ones."

She blushed a little. "Could you bring Sarah?" She asked shyly. Sarah was a stuffed penguin her parents got her when she was a baby. She usually didn't keep it out in the open but she needed it when she slept or was upset.

John fell silent and looked at the nurse to see if sweat pants were allowed.

When he found out, he smiled back at his daughter.

"Anything the hospital says is okay, I'll bring for you, okay?
