Growing the Family By Two

"Oh, yeah, I guess she did," he smiled.

"I don't know why! Don't worry about it. Go back to bed," Noelle said before hearing Natalie chatting to herself in the crib. "Never mind. Go get her. Given the her lag I doubt you'll get her back to sleep, but you can try."

"Randy nodded and went to get Natalie."

He smiled over the side of the crib and reached in to pick her up.

"How is daddy's little princess?" he asked her.

Natalie grinned and wrapped her arms around Randy when he picked her up. "Dada!" she squealed excitedly.

Randy felt the back of her pants to see if she was wet as he took her into the kitchen.

"Your hungry, aren't you, baby?" he thought.

After 2 weeks with Randy and Noelle the girl understood 'hungry.' "Eat! Eat!" she demanded eagerly as she bounced in his arms.

"Yes, I will tell you. I'm going to do it now." Noelle waited for Samantha to close her eyes and tip her head back before pouring water over it. She squirted on some shampoo and started lathering it up.

Samantha loved Noelle.

Noelle finished washing Samantha's hair. "Okay, gonna rinse it now," she warned before grabbing the detachable shower head and gently spraying away the suds, smiling at how at-ease the girl was. What a change from their first few days together!

Natalie sat and watched Randy. "Dada, joo?" she asked, wanting juice.

"You want some joo-joo?" he asked cooing at her.

Natalie drank her juice and babbled happily to Randy, though most of it was Thai.

Randy smiled at the babbling girl not knowing a word of Thai.

Sure enough Blythe heard the noise and came downstairs in her little Halloween pajamas that said "daddy's little pumpkin" on the shirt. "Daddy, why's everyone up? The sun isn't even up yet!" she said grumpily, trying to climb up on his lap.

Samantha nodded at her mommy and reached up for her hand.

"Mommy take me to my room?" she asked wanting her mommy's hand so she didn't get lost or confused.

Noelle watched Samantha struggle and finally opened the drawer enough that the girl could get her clothes. She couldn't help but wonder if the girl had vision problems, or poor motor planning. Maybe both. Either way, she knew they needed to get her checked out, and soon.

Samantha got her clothes out, and she started to dress herself.

"Yes, I think daddy is making breakfast now. Let's go see." Noelle took Samantha's hand and walked towards the stairs, afraid to let her go down on her own.

Samantha got to the stairs, and she looked down them and then up at Noelle unsure if she was expected to go down by herself.

After a minute or two, she held carefully to the rail and started to put one foot on the first step, and shaking, she started to try to climb down.

"Honey, it's okay, I'm right here," Noelle said reassuringly, feeling the girl's hand shake as she walked down the stairs with her."

Finally, Samantha sighed as she got to the bottom of the stairs, and she looked up at Noelle.

"I'm sorry.

"Look honey, daddy made oatmeal," Noelle said as Natalie sat eating happily while poor Blythe still looked half asleep sitting with her head propped up on one hand.

Samantha frowned.

"Well...just try it," Noelle encouraged, not really knowing how to describe it.

"No daddy..I'll...eat it," Blythe said between yawns as she reached clumsily for her spoon.

Randy smiled and kept hold of his little princess in his lap.

"Honey, the kids woke Blythe a bit early.

"Yes, I suppose that's a good idea, but not too long of a nap or they won't go to bed on time tonight."
