"Okay, juice or milk?"

Sarah held up one finger, willing to drink some juice.

Valerie headed to the kitchen and soon returned with a sippy cup of apple juice and a bowl of cheese crackers. "I know you're a big girl, but no open cups allowed in the living room," she said as she handed the cup to Sarah, then set the bowl on the coffee table hoping the girl might at least snack a little.

Sarah nodded and sat on the couch again as the movie started. She drank her juice, but didn't even touch the crackers.

Seeing that Sarah wasn't eating the crackers, Janie reached for the bowl and grabbed a handful. "Janie, those are for Sarah," Valerie scolded.

Sarah winced when she heard Janie snap and slam her door. "Sorry." She said softly thinking she had caused Janie's anger.

"Honey, it's not your fault," Valerie said reassuringly.

Sarah nodded sadly and held out her arms hoping to cuddle with Valerie drng the movie.

"Don't you worry about her," Valerie said as she pulled Sarah onto her lap.

Sarah nodded and cuddled into Valerie with her toys and watched the movie. After a while she started tugging at her pull-up not liking the clammy feeling it gave.

"What's wrong? Are you wet?" Valerie asked. "I can pause the movie and help you change if you'd like."

Sarah nodded shly and continued tugging on the pull-up trying to get it off under her dress.

Valerie paused the movie and carried Sarah to her room, where she removed the wet pull up, cleaned her up with a wipe, and helped her into a dry one. "All better! Want to finish the movie?"

Sarah nodded and smiled and went back downstairs onto the couch waiting for Valerie to catch up with her.

Valerie disposed of the wet pull up and joined Sarah on the couch, pulling the girl onto her lap before re-starting the movie.

Sarah smiled and cuddled back into Valerie and started playing with her hair while starting to doze off.

When Sarah fell asleep Valerie set her on the couch and covered her with a blanket before going upstairs and entering Janie's room. She found the girl face down on her bed crying.

Sarah fell asleep with her rabbit and baby blanket in no time not noticing Valerie leave. She stayed asleep for about an hour before waking up and not seeing anyone around. Getting scared she went upstairs hoping to find Valerie as she started crying.

"Sarah, I'm in here," Valerie called from Janie's room when she hear the girl come upstairs crying.

Sarah ran to Janie's room and immediately hugged Valerie's leg. "Sorry" She said quietly, thinking she'd done something wrong to make Valerie disappear.

"Baby, don't be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong," Valerie said as she moved Janie off her lap and pulled Sarah up into a hug.

Sarah nodded and sniffled. She leaned into Valerie and hugged her tight. Once she released the hug, she offered one to Janie as a peace offering.

Janie sighed, a bit miffed that her mother pushed her aside for Sarah, but leaned over and hugged Sarah.

Sarah smiled a little before leaning back into Valerie and pointed to her pull-up hoping she'd understand.

Valerie nodded in understanding and stood up. "Janie, why don't you go downstairs, and Sarah and I will be down in a few minutes. I'll start dinner when we come down." Janie reluctantly followed Valerie's orders and Valerie quickly got Sarah into a dry pull up. "There, all better!"
