Grape was her least favorite, so of course Sarah would pick that one, but she knew protesting would be useless. Valerie continued to ignore the temper tantrum, hoping the girl would give it up when she realized no one was paying attention. She put the grape jelly in the cart, grabbed a few more things she needed, and made a beeline for the register. "Anything else you want?" she asked one last time. Link to comment

justagirl4fun Posted July 30, 2015 Share Posted July 30, 2015 (sorry my laptop came unplugged and the battery is dead so I had to restart it) Luckily the lines were short and they were soon on their way. Valerie got the girls buckled in, loaded the groceries into the trunk, and drove straight home. After getting Sarah out of the car she got Janie, carried her in, and sat her on the time-out stool in the corner. "Stay there until I tell you to come out," she instructed the still-crying girl before going back outside for the groceries. Once she was done she made sandwiches for the girls. "Sarah, time for lunch. Janie, you may come to the table now," she said, but the girl had already cried herself to sleep. Valerie shrugged, figuring it would be best to leave her for the time being. Shy-Diapers Posted July 30, 2015 Author Share Posted July 30, 2015 Sarah sat and watched the kitty while Valerie made lunch. She was fascinated by the little creature. When Valerie called her for lunch, she got up and ran to the table, excited to try something new. She set her rabbit on the table next to the plate, and climbed into he chair. "Thank you!" Before Valerie could even say 'you're welcome', Sarah was already digging into her sandwich. "I like it!" She said excitedly. She finished the whole sandwich, but soon after, her skin was becoming red and blotchy. She started coughing and wheezing, holding her throat. She was going into anaphylactic shock, but having never had peanuts before, no one had any idea she was allergic. Link to comment
justagirl4fun Posted July 30, 2015 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Valerie watched in horror as the girl's lips began to turn blue from lack of oxygen. She realized the girl was having an allergic reaction to something and quickly grabbed some Benadryl from the bathroom, crushed the pills up so they could be absorbed quicker, and put them on Sarah's tongue, hoping to stop the allergic reaction from getting worse while she dialed 911. "It's okay baby," she said soothingly as she waited for the ambulance to appear. Link to comment

She had no idea what was going on, but she knew she didn't like this. She could only clench onto her rabbit and cry while they waited for the paramedics. Link to comment

Sarah was rushed inside and the doctors took over her care, administering epinephrine to stop the anaphylactic shock. Soon Valerie ran in. She set Janie down and hurried to Sarah's side. "It's okay baby, I'm right here," she soothed, stroking the girl's forehead. Link to comment

justagirl4fun Posted July 30, 2015 Share Posted July 30, 2015 As soon as she was able to, Valerie scooped Sarah up and held her tight, rocking her gently. Janie, still dazed and confused after her nap was disrupted, sighed as she watched Sarah hog her mother's attention yet again. With a sigh she turned and wandered away, wondering if her mother would even notice she was missing. Link to comment
