"How many people are coming Uncle Colin?"

I ask placing Samantha on the top bunk of our room.

Caitlin moves my things for me while i put my toys away suckling my thumb. Once its al done i try to climb onto the couch when the door bell rings. I waddle to the door with Caitlin and we voth answer it

Colin laughed. "Honestly, I've lost count at this point. Let's see...my parents are coming, as well as my brother, his wife, and their three kids, my older sister and her husband and their two kids, and my younger sister and her husband and their new baby. And then there's Charlotte's family, which is just as big. Only a few of them stay overnight, the rest live close enough that they just come for the day."

"Are they nice? What if they don't like me and Kristin?"

She asks nervously not sure how to react to all the people coming.

"They will like both of you, I promise. But brace yourself, some of the boys can get pretty wild!" Colin said, heading to the door when he heard the bell ring. He saw Caitlin open the door. "Caitlin, honey, did you see who was there first? Remember how we talked about not opening the door because it could be a stranger?" he reminded her as his brother came in with his family.

"Its your brother daddy and the family." Caitlin says to her father as she steps out of the way so the family can come in.

I stand next to daddy hugging his leg scared. I suckle my thumb

Colin hugged his brother and sister-in-law and took their coats to hang in the hall closet, then picked up the coats, boots and mittens left on the floor by their three kids.

Cora stands back not sure who to interact with so she just stays next to her sister not wanting to do something wrong.

Before long all the relatives were there. The adults stood around talking while kids ran around playing. Kristyn took off with some of the younger ones. "Cora, do you want to hold the baby?" Colin asked when his sister got there with her four-month-old daughter.

Cora smiles and walks up to the baby. She starts cooing to her and smiles when the baby grabs her finger.

"I'm allowed to hold her?"

"Sure you can, sweetie," Colin's sister said. "I'm auntie Jessica, by the way, and this is Liliana. We call her Lily for short."

Cora smiles being able to hold the baby.

"H-Hi. I'm Cora"

She says quietly to Jessica still unsure of everything.

Caitlin goes off andnplays as she remembers all these people.

I stay next to daddy hugging his leg and suckling my thumb as im scared. I dont want to leave daddy.

"Evie, honey, go play. Those are all your cousins. You know them," Colin said, leading her over to a small group of the younger kids that were playing with Charlotte's youngest brother.

"Daddy i wanna stay with woo pwease." I say quietly with my thumb in my mouth.

Caitlin plays with Abbie and Aidan. They all have fun together

"Evie I have to start cooking or we won't have anything to eat for dinner. Go play," Colin said, nudging her gently towards the kids, knowing the kitchen would be too crowded and she'd be in the way.

I sit down scared and shy. I suckle my thumb heavily which causes me to drool a little bit. I get up and go get a new teddy bear but i bump into someone that is very tall.

"Honey wheres Charlotte? I haven't seen her all dya."

Colin's mother says not seeing his wife anywhere

"She's in bed," Colin said as he rushed around the kitchen, trying to get a ham, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots and other assorted side dishes ready in a timely fashion. "She's had a bit of an upset stomach since last night."

I run into the kitchen and i hide underneath the dining table. I suckle my thumb holding my teddy bear sat scared

Colin's mother raises an eyebrow.

"Oh, and what do you think might be the cause exactly?"

She asks suspecting something, but waiting for more information.

"Evie, I told you to go play," Colin scolds. "If you're going to be out here you need to sit in the high chair out of the way," he says, not wanting her to get burned or knocked over. "Do you want to sit in the high chair, or go play?" Then he turned to his mother. "We're...uh...not sure yet. It's a bit soon to tell."

"Mwe sit in highchair daddy. Mwe no wike it out there. Too scary." I say coming out from under the dinibg table suckling my thumb holding my teddy beat wearing a red dress with a diaper and a red bow in my hair.
