Depends1578
Haven't posted in awhile but have a question I bet everyone can answer for me. Are plastic pants used to keep extra urine from causing leaks? does the leaked urine stay contained in the plastic pant? Is the only place for me to order some online or a medical store? Thanks so much guys. Sorry for the ridiculous question. 1 Link to comment
freswith
They don't. The idea is that the diaper absorbs all the urine, and the pants stop the wet diaper from contacting anything else. When the diaper is saturated any more urine will leak. If they are put on over a disposable diape,r and the DD leaks, it is likely that the pants will leak too unless you have put something absorbant in between the two. If the leg elastics are unenclosed, they will wick the moisture out by capillary action. This is why fully-enclosed elastics are better. Similarly small pants are more likely to leak than bigger ones because the bigger ones allow a "bag" to form for the diaper and so the elastics are not pulled sideways so much, and can do their job better. You simply couldn't make the leg elastics tight enough to be absolutely waterproof; they would be terribly uncomfortable. You can order them online or buy them in person from a medical store. Generally the "commercial" ones are designed with economy in mind and are not as good as the specialist ABDL types you can buy online. Link to comment
AutieAB
Over disposable diapers, they're mainly a safety net. While anything that leaks into the pants will make it's way out eventually (especially if you sit down ) it will take a while to do so if it's just a small leak, giving you a little bit more time to handle the situation. Also, if it's a small leak, just a drip or two, it will probably come out of the pants slowly enough that it evaporate without causing a wet patch. The other use is smell containment, providing the top of the diaper is kept in the pants (it often tries to poke out the top, particularly with premium diapers which tend to have a high rise at the back). Again, any smell from either a wet diaper or worse will eventually leak out (messy smells much quicker than wet smells!) so it's still a safety net more than actual protection. Other than that, it's all down to ABDL factors - decoration, desire or the feel of them. Link to comment

beallucanb
I find with plastic pants over disposables, I can feel when the plastic pants leak faster than just wearing a diaper. When I feel the leg band getting moist I know the diaper is history, with just the diaper I take more chances and I hardly ever catch them before they are leaking on my pants. Link to comment
lil1inlongbeach
When I used to wear a lot I wore plastic pants over my disposables all the time. It was like a safety net for me or pyschological anyway. I did have the plastic pants one time save our tent from a major mess on our honeymoon. Daddy put into an Abriform but it didn't fit quite right and once the tabs were set I don't think you could undo them. I didn't like to wet my diapers in my sleeping bag for fear of it getting wet and I don't like a wet bed. Thank God I had plastic pants on over it because the wetness collected in the plastic pants that wasn't absorbed by the diaper. Luckily it was still on the dark side with people sleeping and I discovered this when I checked it before getting back into bed. It's saved my clothes from getting wet many times too. I was using the VIP style which sadly they don't make anymore. I haven't found any other plastic pants as comfortable as these. The others one dig into me or just don't feel that comfortable to wear. The only place to get them is online as you can't walk into a store and pick up a pair of an adult size plastic pants. There are medical supply companies out there as well as AB/DL aware websites too. Good luck! Link to comment

Bettypooh
Haven't posted in awhile but have a question I bet everyone can answer for me. Are plastic pants used to keep extra urine from causing leaks? does the leaked urine stay contained in the plastic pant? Is the only place for me to order some online or a medical store? Thanks so much guys. Sorry for the ridiculous question. When it comes to excess urine, all that plastic panties do is buy you time for the diaper (cloth or disposable) to do it's job If it's full you leak, same as always They will help for flooding, leg leaks, and waist leaks when you're laying down They let you use a lesser disposable diaper too- that means cheaper which matters a lot here Without them my cheap pull-ups wouldn't be sufficient One thing to watch for with them is puddling in the crotch- if that happens standing and you suddenly sit down you may be in for a surprise Either sit slowly or wear something that keeps the center of the crotch in contact with the diaper. With well-fitted plastic-backed disposables they hardly work at all, but you hardly need them then either The only ones I've seen at retail were the cheap "Priva" style at a couple medical suppliers, and the "Salk Sanipants" which are PUL cloth The quality of the seams on the "Priva" is extremely variable- some last weeks and some open on the first wearing The "Sanipants" ore OK for medium duty wear, but being cloth will wick at the legs if you flood or get really wet And both are cheaper online. When it comes to anything ABDL online is the way to go Only a few of us who use diapers as intended find that something retail is worthwhile, and there are often special circumstances which make that so. I could buy cheaper online, but I never have that much money at once so I buy in $10-20 increments since that's the best I can do. No question is ridiculous, and it was in reading the answers here that I found better ways through the experiences (and money) of others, which made my life so much easier Bettypooh Link to comment
diapertime42
As others have said, if your diaper is soaked beyond capacity, the plastic pants will not contain it. In other words, if you are walking around and there is a pee puddle in the bottom of your plastic pants, you might be ok.... until you sit down. Then the pee will be squeezed out into your jeans. The diaper has to be absorbent enough to contain all the urine. The plastic pants are just a barrier to prevent moisture transfer to your slacks. You would pretty much have to duct tape the plastic pants to your legs and waist to prevent leaks due to a over soaked diaper. But that might be just a tad uncomfortable! On the other hand, if you try the duct tape thing, please post a photo... That would be fun to see! Link to comment
