timmyc
Not sure how the voting system works over there, but the blame should go to the to the agency that sent him the card or the individual who gave him the ballot without proper id. Link to comment
AutieAB
Not sure how the voting system works over there, We have the principle of a secret ballot It was technically his parent's fault - when you fill in the electoral roll registration form, you're told specifically to list only adults 18+ and children 16+ (with their DoB) to ensure that even if an election is called right on their 18th birthday, they're properly registered and can vote. Obviously his parents shouldn't have put his name on the registration but did. It would also seem that they either wrote his DoB wrong or somebody at the local council input the DoB wrongly. I also read another story where it stated his parents knew that their household received an extra polling card, told the kid not to vote but they they "weren't surprised" that he did. Clearly they should have torn it up there and then. Link to comment
XxWillowxX
Maybe there should be better secruity at the polling places? It can be any number of person's fault no one really knows or is owning up to it. They didn't prosicut the kid because there would of been an up rore from the other students like there was at the last elecrion. Link to comment
nappyboymids
He was interviewed by The Guardian and, whether you agree with his views or not, he was far more articulate than most voters over 18! http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/may/09/alfie-mckenzie-14-year-old-voter Link to comment
