I don't know about the profile thing, but only an admin (and I think maybe a mod, too) can change your screen name.

As moogs stated, only an admin can change your screenname. However, this is a new version of the forum, so a number of teething problems ewith the software is expected - and knowing the admins attention to detail, I can safely state that the problems ARE being addressed and will be fixed shortly.
