As someone who remembers being spanked after doing a poo in my nappy when I was 2 or 3, trust me it does hurt through the nappy and it can make you cry.

In RL my mother told of her sister-in-law.  Her girls were too old to not be toilet trained (probably 2 1/2 by 1950s standards)  And she would spank them on loaded training pants.  My mother's comment was "It makes the clean up much harder."   I know my mom would have cleaned them and given a good paddling.  Wet ones would have been dealt with the same way.  And in either case it would be followed by putting your red butt on the potty chair.  And be strapped in for at least a half hour.   There were no through the diaper spankings at our house.

I have been using Seeking Health silicone bags from Amazon,  for 4-5 yrs and only had one bag go bad, the connector came out of the bottom, and thats a mess, but I do enema every day, and for a few yrs I did them twice a day and my wife has been daily for several yrs, these have been the best I have found, but as long as you use the silicone bag, But I go to the Lowes Hardware and get the $6 a roll of clear hose, 5/16 and a brass valve, the blade type so its easy to control. I use a medical grade silicone probe. It took some time of wasting money on different bags its, to get this combo but I have had very good luck, and just run a cup or so of bleach through the bag and hose a couple times a yr.

Just to perhaps a help to others, Foreverdl, I believe, is referring to what is technically called a ball valve (you turn a lever about a quarter turn for max flow)and it would be perfect.  If I'm wrong Foreverdl let me know and we can figure it out.  Foreverdl you have hit the nail on the head with a better valve.  All the shut offs that came with the bags leave a lot to be desired.  The only one of the simple click on/off clips that really was easy to use and dependable was the old metal one.  But they don't adjust the flow.   And the others with sliders etc. don't hold up or work well.  They are really designed to be cheap disposables and work poorly.  I think a trip to the home center is on my list of things to do.  Thanks for the tip.

And just because we are talking about equipment, this advice.  Never fool with the combination water bottle/enema design.  They are a pain to fill and I always wonder if they dry out.  The open top bag is much easier to use.

  3. If you think you will do enemas more than rarely, I suggest PurEnema Silicone Enema kit, available on Amazon and other places.  They do cost a little more but the quality is so much better.  The cheaper ones, in my experience like to leak.  The inside of their tubing is smaller.  Their clamp is not adjustable.  You get the usual small nozzle vs. a variety with the PurEnema.  And in different capacities.   I really only needed a 2 quart but the 4 quart was close in price so I bought that one.

I don't get paid for this, but I've tried the usual ones and was disappointed.  Buy the good one and in the long run you will be happier.
