i havent heard any therion, but from what i hear, they are really good. the older stuff is supposed to be classic death metal while the newer stuff is symphonic
i didnt care for that series on vh1. i wish more about metal... i'm sorry, but AC/DC metal? shit like that pisses me off. i did enjoy the segment on Iron Maiden though
i actually did enjoy the female vocalist a while back, when she still sounded unique. on Doomsday Machine, she sounds like any other death metal band. but i thought Michael Amott was good, i enjoy his style, even if he isnt the best. and metalcore is just a -core subgroup. core has more of a punk influence, at least thats what i can tell. the only metalcore bands that i've really heard are Shadows Fall, A Perfect Murder, Lamb Of God, and God Forbid
i guess its up to me to bring this thread back to life. anyways, i've seen All That Remains when they helped open for Arch Enemy. they were awesome, the solos were pretty good. and that chick bassists, not bad... and they are metalcore
i'm a student at my junior college and then hopefully go to a state college in a year or so. trying to become a mechanical engineer, so doing alots of math, physics, and CAD/ 3D work. but my first and only job thus far is a mechanic at a bowling alley
I'm all about thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Annihilator, Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Vader (its thrashy death), Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Whiplash... rock on poorly produced 80s thrash!!!
old Metallica as in the first album and some of the second. i love thrash and they lost me after Ride the Lightning with their slow songs like 'The Thing that Should not Be'. Dave made that band great, after they kicked him out, they lost their edge
