Why do we like diapers? I've always thought that it was like the old nurture/nature argument. Before I had my own children I used to believe that nurture played the more dominant role. We were a product of our upbringing and environment. Now I tend to lean the other direction and believe that nature plays a larger role. At first your children’s physical appearance is notable. Later as they mature you begin to notice behavioral similarities. In the animal world there are all kinds of incredible behaviors exhibited especially mating behavior that is not learned but hard wired. The animal engages in all kinds or bizarre and unique behavior instinctively. Humans have always thought of themselves as unique and separate from the animal world. We have always thought that our behavior is more a result of rational thought and learned behavior. The older I get the more I think that notion is very chauvinistic and wrong. I think much if not most of our behavior is inherited or in other words hard wired. I think that our love of diapers is a combination of nurture and nature. I think that our sexuality is very complicated and frequently gets cross-wired. In my own case there was never any traumatic event or anything else that caused my diaper interest. It just happened and there is no real explanation.

I had an olfactory experience at about the age of four or five years old that had a profound impact upon me. I used to play with a little girl who lived across the street. She came from a large family and had younger siblings. I remember the odor of the nursery in their house. It was a combination of baby powder and soiled diapers. To this day when I think about that experience it's almost as if I can remember that smell. Several years later I would recall that experience and start thinking about diapers. It wasn't until I was 11 or 12 that I actually tried making a diaper. I was the youngest child so there were no diapers in the house for me to access. I was able to make a crude diaper out of a white hand towell. I would use three to achieve the desired thickness. I don't believe that early olfactory experience caused me to become a dl but I do think it was a sign of things to come. Now over 50 years later it is still etched in my brain.

I have diaper dreams. The more I wear diapers the more frequent the dreams. I haven't been able to wear diapers for two months and the dreams have stopped. I wore a diaper to bed last night for the first time since November. I didn't dream about diapers but will be able to wear diapers the next two nights so I am confident that I will have a diaper dream one of those nights. My dreams usually involve the shame of being caught in diapers. Usually I encounter a group of people in my dreams and I try to find a private place where I can remove my diaper before I get caught.
