For those that have gotten themselves dependent and then gone back, how long did the retrain take?

Everybody is different.  How often you have a sleep-wetting, is probably a factor.

If you wet in your sleep, it follows that it is very hard to consciously regain control.

Setting an alarum clocks to empty your bladder about 2 hours after you go to bed and resetting it another 2 hours each time you return from the lavatory should help you to re-retrain, but is unlikely to be 100%, so you will need to take precautions every night, just in case.

There would almost have to be a failsafe of some sort...

However, it could be interesting to figure out how the magnetic device works and hack together something that could be stuck to the outside of the diaper or left inside it, which would intermittently open the valve without warning.

Wear a condom with a not too tight rubber band to keep the pee in. After a few little wets, it will blow off  .......  without warning.

I wish I could become more indifferent to being wet. My body just clamps down if it thinks my diaper will leak while laying in bed.

It is just in bed that I really wish my body would let go. I can pee but soon as it seems I could leak it clamps shut.

Make sure that your mattress is very well protected and instead of wetting a nappy in bed, wet into a bedpad.

Get yourself 4 or 6 bedpads to allow for washing, and sleep naked with one under and one over you.

I tend to have that issue around the 60% usage mark(when the diaper cuffs and starts to rise). Its super annoying when trying to enjoy laying in bed reading articles and the dreaded leak happens.

As a life long bedwetter, who grew up with wet pajamas and sheets, I think that some wetters expect too much if they expect their nappy to hold 100% of their wetting.

It is more realistic to be grateful that their nappy protects the top sheet / duvet while the rubber sheet protects the mattress.  Anything more is a bonus.

I've had damp pajamas the last two morning from seeping where my diaper and pants touch. Now that I am sleeping more, I might need to add plastic pants back into the mix!

Mmm, nice.  Damp pajamas help to keep cool on hot nights.  Are you wetting in your sleep now ?

There’s no debate. Clearly the egg came first.  That embryo had a new mutation and became a new species.  (I’m kidding! I’m just being silly.)

To your point about people claiming they made themselves diaper dependent in 3 weeks… I don’t know what to think.  Superficially, it sounds far fetched and my initial instinct is to be skeptical, but  I hear it enough that I don’t think people are lying or even over exaggerating. If I had to take a guess, the people who accomplish this are able to quickly alter their internalized image of themselves to see themselves as incontinent and diaper dependent, and in doing so they replace the conditioned reflex that they shouldn’t be peeing their pants with one that says they should be peeing their pants. And all of this happens subconsciously so the person just knows they are now diaper dependent.    Again this is pure speculation.

The answer as to which came first, "Chicken or egg", is.........................the paperwork.

Thank you very much @Wet Knight @jonbearab for your advice. It will be very useful for my future purchases.

I drink a lot of coffee water and juice as recommended in the 12 month programme. I pee a lot (about 20 to 25 times a day).
At night I don't get up to change and I leak. Cleaning is not fun. I have to make sure that this happens as little as possible.
I need to do what I can to make wearing nappies as painless as possible and learn to deal with the ones I can't avoid.
To date, night leaks are the main one I have encountered.
    Lorenzo.

Presumably your mattress is protected,  buy a couple of 1M X 1M washable bed pads, and don't worry about leaks at night.

  8. PVC plastic trousers are uncomfortable to wear. There are several manufacturers who make clothes for people who like walking in the country and their clothes have a waterproof layer between the lining and the tough outer layer.

The waterproof layer is breathable and therefore much more comfortable than PVC. Clothes like these do not show any leaks from your nappy and the lining of the trousers will absorb a small amount of leaks.

They are very comfortable to wear in the winter, but probably a little hot in summer.

I'll wear plastic pants to the dentist more often than not...it gives me something non-dental to think about during the procedure. I may have gotten caught once though; I went under anesthesia for an extraction, and the dentist's assistant placed several contacts on my skin for tracking my heart rate etc, and one of those spots was low enough on my hip that she must have seen the red plastic panties I was wearing, but nothing was said then or after I came to. During the procedure...who knows?

I agree with you, I always wear a nappy and babypants to the Dentist.  No worries about leaks and it's nice to feel the trickle if it happens.
