It seems to me that you're pretty much ok with it for the most part, and your discomfort lies more with your lack of understanding. Solution: Research a little and then Talk. Talk. Talk. The more you talk to him/her the more you both understand the others position. The more you talk about it, the less taboo it becomes, the more you learn, the more your partner learns and the closer you both get to finding a way of living that works well for both of you.
