There are so many of us that I seriously doubt it will ever be a problem. Worst comes to worst, we pool together support from everywhere and make our own. Besides, they'll be around for some time just yet. In 20-30 years maybe not, but who knows?

Says who?!? I think the real reason could just be pricing, producing plastic breifs in the near future will become very expensive and getting plastic-backed breifs will be harder. It sucks, but at least plastic pants will be practical, probably for a long time to come. As long as there's a market (which there certainly is) and it is possible, there will be plastic-backed breifs around, for sure. They could get annoyingly expensive, however. We'll have to see. I can't see why they would not want to sell them. After all, profit is profit and they are medically relevant for plenty of people. Pharmacies stock all kinds of irrelevant crap as it is, so I can't see how that could be a problem.

Nobody's ever noticed. I even braved it in skinny jeans before. Normally can't tell, especially with a coat. The above doesn't really tell us all that much. Most advice-threads are really circular questions. How do you feel about them? Would it be possible to wear them frequently or 24/7? Would you feel bad about losing control (even only a little)? How would your partner react? What aspects appeal to you most? etc etc

Assume it's accidental at this point. If it persists for some months, or there is some sign he does enjoy it, then you might. He's prepubescent, too, so further reason to doubt that.
