it would literally be dangerous for you to talk to most psychologists. half of the users on this forum would be tortured if psychologists saw their accounts. a decent portion of us HAVE been before. whatever you think cognitive behavioral therapy is, it's NOT this. i don't think you'll find many people here comfortable with this line of thinking of yours. i would dump the psych angle if you want anyone to engage with this. i suggest a re-write. it's a shame too, you've had a lot of really cool posts here before that i've enjoyed. but this one is gonna be a big yikes from me.

my advice is not to do this. as others have warned you, they may very well get psychiatrists involved, and that can become dangerous quickly. people have absolutely had their human rights removed for less at that point. us telling you about the risks, and the justifications that will be used to abuse you, does not equal us endorsing these abuses. it is merely trying to warn you that they DO happen. insurance will be the least of your worries if things go poorly in this type of situation. i promise it's not worth risking.

if your therapist has made you aware, or given you the impression, that they are adamantly against ANYTHING, that is not a good therapist and you are not safe around them. that is not at all the purpose of these services and i would strongly warn you against proceeding with this person any further. as far as hypnotists go, there is no reason they should ever be asking for such a letter, nor would any reputable professional recommend such a service. hypnotism is not considered a medical practice, nor are there any risks associated with it which would ever require another's recommendation. i think this hypnotist is...probably messing with you.
