downtown-montpelier-flooded.jpg
This is a picture of the capital city of Vermont, Montpelier, from the air, taken on July 10th 2000 and 23. As you can see floodwaters have inundated the entire city. Big building that you see in the middle of this mess is Montpelier High School, and the flood was extensive from where the high school is all the way down to the roundabout at the other end of town. Totally flooded the entire area, except for the higher ground. I just got a report from friends down there that said that the church (Trinity United Methodist) was also dealing with severe flooding. The report was that we had flooding to about two inches Below the ceiling in the basement, which means that almost everything in that basement has been destroyed again, the last time that happened was in 20 16, and it took eight months to rebuild, and then we opened again when we're allowed to after all the inspections and things.
When people say that water can do a lot of damage they don't mess around................
