Sam, seeing you and his friend (you can't remember his name) ganging up on him, frowns. "Whatever, come on, Jill." He gets up to leave.

The girl sitting next to you, Jill, wavers for a moment before following him, leaving you alone with the other boy.

"Huh. Sam is being especially cranky today. Give him time. Tomorrow he won't even remember what made him mad today."

He sticks out his hand. "By the way my name's Gideon. I know we probably exchanged names a few weeks ago or something. But I think a more proper introduction is in order."
