Diaperedchair
Position. If you've ever watched a toddler in diapers having a bowel movement, you know what position they usually assume - squatting. That's the position that was assumed by most humans all over the world until recently and is still used in some areas. Link to comment
Frink
errr... okay, but why is this important? Link to comment
val onwheels
The preferable position for a bowel movement is sitting down with a normal posture if possible. Reading may help a person relax, which can aid a bowel movement. While the stool is being expelled, a person should try to squeeze the stomach muscles and bear down. This increases the pressure in the abdomen, helping to empty the bowel. Link to comment

Tinkles123
I suppose it's a matter of individual preference. Val, I appreciate your situation, certainly. But I prefer the standing position. Seems easiest for me. Link to comment
Guest
I suppose it's a matter of individual preference. Val, I appreciate your situation, certainly. But I prefer the standing position. Seems easiest for me. I wear diapers, so I just do it in whatever position I'm in when I have to go. If my stomache hurts, nothing is better than staying in my comfy bed in the fetal position. Repaid1
I'm not so sure on Bearing down and "Forcing" a bowel movement. You'll find out why later in life. Link to comment
