It's know that cells can only divide a certain number of times. When they can't divide enough any more to replenish your body then you die of old age. It's also known that serious injuries require our cells to divide an extra number of times to heal that wound. With serious injuries you are literally robbed years of your life in order to heal.

In essence, within the first year after my wreck I aged about 20 years. There are times when I feel it, and times when I can just ignore it and keep on going.
