AutieAB
The majority of media coverage of the Fukushima situation (and I'm looking at you, CNN and BBC) has been absolutely awful from beginning to end with uninformed idiots spouting stuff they don't actually understand and BS statistics like "radiation levels 10 times normal background levels in Tokyo" being used to scare people who don't know any better. While that may have been true at that particular moment in time, 10x background is a vanishingly insignificant amount and is completely and utterly harmless So far, nobody has received any harmful level of radiation exposure except one guy who was close to the reactor building when the first hydrogen explosion happened. The amount of radiation exposure he received was not enough to warrant serious concern as a one-off incident in his life. A much, much, much better analysis of the situation: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/03/18/fukushima_friday/ TL;DR, quit buying up all the potassium iodine pills - you don't need them!
