Reading between the lines the previous two chapters may already hold the key to the answers Sam is so desperately seeking and they most probably won’t be to her liking, even thought she is yet to put the puzzle pieces together and work that out for herself.
In the previous chapter....
Karen walked into the living room behind Sam and knelt down at the edge of the playpen, she looked very serious..... “You are to remain absolutely silent, is that clear?” Karen warned, “This is my best friend and do not think for a moment that she will help you if you tell her anything.”... Sam looked up at Karen with fear.... she had never seen the intensity Karen was showing right now.....“If you talk to her at all she will do nothing to help you and you will be punished.” Karen warned Sam, “I promise you will never forget the repercussions.”...
Has Karen already let Martha in on her secret that while Sam looks like a toddler she is actually eighteen?
Did she (Sam) really look like such a baby that this stranger would mistake her for one? “Oh my God!” Martha came rushing into the living room and knelt down in front of the pen. Sam fell over on to her wet butt in shock, “This must be Sam! Hello, little one, aren’t you just the most adorable little thing!” Sam was shocked. There didn’t seem a question in this stranger’s mind that Sam was a baby ...She is just the sweetest thing.” Martha said...
Marth’s actions confirm that she is either knowingly playing the ruse that Karen has let her in on or she actually thinks Sam is a real baby.
In the current chapter,
For an hour or so Sam was left alone in the playpen. She could occasionally hear laughter from the kitchen but never any specific conversation.
What were Martha and Karen discussing and laughing about? Did Karen bring Martha in on the secret of Baby Sam before her visit or in the kitchen? Did Martha already know the real story and provide Karen with the dissolvable tongue numbing tablets? Was that the real purpose of her visit or a coincidence?
When Martha excused herself out of the nursery for a few minutes to make a phone call Karen reached into her pocket and pulled out what looked to be a kind of dissolvable tablet.
Who was Martha calling? Was she making arrangements to have Sam permanently regressed to an actual toddler by a doctor friend, or perhaps she is doctor herself? Was she (Martha) making arrangements to take Sam to a babysitter so that she could experience the full toddler experience and have a complete stranger diaper and feed her, or was she making arrangements to take Sam back to her own house for the night, or was it simply a coincidence that she had to make a phone call? Eitherway Sam should be highly suspicious of Martha and her intentions.
