  1. Thank you all for the details. I have been to the doctors several times in diapers in fear but thankfully nothing has needed to be done below the waist. I’ve been planning to treat the whole thing as not a big deal but hearing what you’ve all said helps with that. I don’t want to go out of my way to prevent awkwardness if everything is totally normal. I want to have the first experience below the waist to be what is normal for me so I never have to worry about it for future visits. My appointment is not until Sep 14th but I will be sure to post my results on this thread to affirm for others that the doctors should not be something to worry about. Or if things go south affirm as such. @Little Sherriyou answered so many of my concerns 😬😬. Those fears about each visit to whatever specialist it may be is exactly what worries me. I have the problem I have and I want to go in with that mindset and not worry about what the doctors will think. I have thought about wearing those gray man pads or pull ups but don’t want to have to worry about doing that with the possibility of leaking every time I see a doc.
  2. Thank you. Just knowing others go through the same issues makes it so much easier. Thank you for the details. The details are what will make the visit easier for sure. I have about two months before my physical so I will let you all know how it goes after the fact. The pull ups and extra supplies are a great idea for sure… I’m glad to know that wearing a pad/diaper is nothing out of the ordinary. Do they call them pads or briefs or diapers at the doctors office? I will be getting a physical and a prostate exams as far as I know. So, thank you for the info. I guess I will stick to my usual BetterDry’s and just go by what they say. Since becoming incontinent I have come to enjoy diapers but have 0 interest in involving others in this which is why I’m so fearful of the doctors office.
  3. I have been urinary incontinent for about 10 years now. I know that it is caused due to nerve problems in my spine. I have a lot of back problems and have had two doctor suggest that that is most likely the cause. I have been referred to two urology doctors but have declined. I try to avoid the doctors office but have been going every 6 months or so for issues with high blood pressure and a mild arrhythmia and heart thickening. I have mentioned my urinary incontinence twice now during my check ups for my heart. Thankfully the doctor has been able to get my blood pressure down to fairly normal over the last year or so but now we are about to start our normal yearly physical check ups because I am an established patient. I have never once had a physical or any kind of examination down there, and now that I am incontinent I am afraid of how to proceed with that. What do I wear? What do I say? I normally wear plastic back BetteryDry briefs… do I wear that or something else… if they ask me to disrobe do I remove the brief and risk leaking or mention wearing briefs and see what they recommend? Do they get patients regularly with this problem? How do they normally handle it if so…? I’m a 36 year old male and both times I brought up my incontinence during my heart visits the doctor seemed surprised. I’m worried they will be surprised again when I bring things up during the physical… is my incontinence not normal? Spending time on this forum has definitely made me feel like I am not alone overall but the doctors office just feels like a whole new level.
