Carter's cheeks flushed.

Carter nodded absently.

While the grown-ups were talking, Carter and James escaped to James's play room.

James ate his breakfast, feeling a new resolve to stay dry today, especially since Carter was coming over.

"I didn't pee-pee in my diaper!" James exclaimed proudly.

The next morning, James was excited to wake

"But I not s'posed to potty in my pants, either," James said, looking confused.

"Am I big enough?" James asked.

"Mommy, why Carter sad?" James asked.

"Don't wanna go home!" Carter cried.

Carter was moving his legs up and down, trying to stop wetting his pants, but he couldn't hold it. "Sorry, Mommy," James whimpered.

Carter remembered a little too late that his mommy didn't bring extra clothes for him and that she'd told him that James was just now learning to use the potty, so he needed to stay dry and set an example.

Carter and James had been playing for a couple of hours when Carter's need to pee made him uncomfortable.

James and Carter greeted each other and started playing together.

James nodded, but wasn't sure about using a strange potty.

"I thirsty, Mommy," James announced once he was in his booster seat.

James nodded excitedly.

James nodded and snuggled against her. In doing so, he realized how wet his diaper felt between his legs.

The next morning, James woke up and toddled into his parents' room.

They were almost home when James realized he was going to potty in his pants if he couldn't get to the bathroom soon.
