Three of my favorite stories are:

"The Year In-between", By Mr Smith

"Jason the Bedwetter" by jake1987

"Bruce"  Author unknown

All three have realistic themes and do not go overboard or jump the shark.   I am curious if there are others like these that anyone knows of.
