Kyle went to the hallway and carried his things inside making neat and organized piles for him to sort though . He looked at Macs things thrown haphazardly around “is that everything you brought buddy, it doesn’t look like very much where are all of you’re clothes?”

Kyle nodded and smiled “well, we’ll see 8:30 is a possibility but you would have to be on perfect behavior for the rest of the day” he looked around can you do me a favor and sit tight while a get my stuff from the hall way”

“Bedtime” Kyle stated “ your mom mentioned that you stayed up way too late and disobeyed the bedtime rules well that’s not with me. So starting out bedtime will be 8:30 but that’s totally based on your behavior if you’re really good you can ear extra time. If you’re not doing what you should or acting up you’ll loss time for instance that tone you’ve been using would cost you 10 minutes. Oh and it will. Be fine to change into Jammie’s right when we get back from Dinner”

Kyle smiled “I said big brothers not younger brothers now let’s see your mommy mentioned that she worries about your technology usage so I’ll be holding on to your phone and all other screen time will go through me. She also mentioned that you don’t eat enough so I’ll me monitoring what you eat and how much.

Kyle nodded, he reached out and stroked the boys hair “I did, I just needed to know a couple of things and I wanted to introduce myself, I can tell that she worries about you and she said that she’s so busy taking care of your big brothers that she couldn’t always take care of you the way you need but you don’t need to worry you’re my only little boy and my top priority”

Kyle smiled “thank you mam, will do and have a good night” he hung up and looked at Max “you’re mom is so nice kiddo and very helpful now back to those rules”

Kyle nodded “of course, I think I can take care of that. What was Max’s schedule like at home did he have a bedtime on school nights?”

Kyle nodded “sit on your bottom please buddy” he hit dial and waited for an answer. He smiled as a voice on the other end picked up “um hi Mrs. Hayes hi this is Kyle I’m rooming with your little boy haha well I guess he’s my little boy now anyway yah, I’m Max’s roommate and I just wanted to let you know I’m taking care of your boy but I was hoping you might give me some insight into How you ran things at home like rules and other things” he smiled as Max’s mom picked up the conversation

Kyle nodded “thanks buddy” he scrolled threw the phone until he found what he was looking for, before hitting call he paused “ah buddy, I forgot to ask, what your last name?”

Kyle smiled “that’s a good boy, thank you buddy now what’s your code little guy”

Kyle shook his hand “sweetheart I. Guessing you know I can take it if I have to so please just be a good boy and hand it to me”

Kyle chuckled “honey that’s 2 rules, I think we might need more than 2 rules don’t you” he stood “can you tell me about your schedule at home, like what’s your usual bedtime”

Kyle bent down and stroked the boys hair “hey now, sweetheart, how am I supposed to keep you safe if I can’t see who else is in the bathroom with you”

Kyle nodded “you can always ask permission buddy and I’ll accommodate you however I can just remember I do t say no without a reason. My job is to decide what’s best for us, your job is to accept those decisions” he smiled “here the thing buddy at least for now that rule applies to the bathroom too so let me know when you have to go and I’ll ummm take you”

Kyle smiled. “That’s a good boy” he said “okay rule number 2 and please understand this is only for your safety, I don’t want you leaving the room without me or my express permission” before Max could get worked up Kyle added have you seen the size of those guys out there, I just don’t know if they can be trusted around. Little boy like you and I need to keep you safe so if you want to go somewhere ask if I say no you obey”

Kyle shrugged he ruffled Max’s hair then slide his hand down to cup the boys chin “rules are rules pipsqueak and remember you agreed that I’m the head or the decider now shall we move on or do you want to pout first. Sometimes little boys just need time to cry, I totally get that”

Kyle gave the boy an impish grin “different rules little guy, I’m the one doing the cleaning besides that rule only applies to boys who are under 12 or smaller than a size 7 they tend to be the magic mess makers” he waited to see if Max would push

Kyle chuckled and wondered if max would notice that despite his new rule Kyle still wore shoes. He shrugged “no little buddy I’m just a 12” he reached down and pulled off the other sock handing it to Max “can you drop these in the hall way for me buddy boy”

Kyle nodded “of course buddy I’ll make sure” he bent down “let me help you kiddo” he simply pulled off Max’s shoe. “ he chuckled as he held it in his hand “these really are tiny what size are you munchkin?”

Kyle ruffled the boys hair again “sure buddy, I won’t touch your toys as long as you remember to clean them up when you’re done playing and don’t leave them laying on the ground, even then I’ll never hurt them or anything and we can find a special place for you to keep them safe. He looked down at Max’s sneakers “our first rule is a big one for me and it may seem silly to you but we always had it for all of my brothers but it really helped keep things neat and orderly. From now on you’re not to wear shoes or socks in the room, they co e off at the door, we’ll get you a little box or crate to keep them in but you’re to be barefoot at all times in the room. It really cuts down on messes and mud and dirt”

Kyle nodded “okay great, so firstly I’m all about making this place feel like a home and sharing so what’s mine is yours and I hope you feel the same. I definitely agree that we need to keep this place clean but I’ll worry about most of that I’m kind of an organization nut and I like cleaning so I’ll take care of most of it. I’ll even do your laundry the only thing I do ask is that if I do give you a chore you complete it does that sound fair buddy” he asked giving the boys shoulder a squeeze”

Kyle smiled he crossed the short distance to the little boy and ruffled his hair “that’s a good boy” he beamed “you know actually kiddo, you remind me a lot of my little brother Tommy, she’s my 3rd little brother and he’s almost 8 but he’s like your size actually I think he’s a little bit bigger” he chuckled “so let’s talk basic rules

Kyle chuckled “right well like I said I don’t want a lot of fighting and disagreements and I think the best way to make sure that happens is to make someone the decider in the house, the man of the house, the head of household if you will and no offense little guy but judging by your size and the fact that you’ve already ask me to help take care of you I think we can both a agree that’s me”

Kyle looked worried “I only see like 2 pairs of pants and” he pointed “that underwear is all holey” he smiled and snapped his fingers “stay right there” he ran from the room returning 5 minutes later with a huge trash bag “there are my brothers things, I was supposed to donate them but I forgot and it’s a good thing. I get they’ll fit you perfectly”
