  1. I wanna 4000 sq foot house to!! (can't 'ford one here though) qwack
  2. No snow here (well except up in the local mountains) but lots of rain. I am sure some of you heard on the news about the flooding and mud slides we have been experiencing. It's a mess, as usual, but it is what nature hands us, and it happens every few years. we need the rain, but this is a bit much....thank you. and yes, watching people 'try' and drive in in climate weather is...'amusing' qwack
  3. Hey rocker! Fish was a buddy to many of us, he was / is still (as far as I know) up in Washington somewhere. he used to pop in to the chat room here under another (fish related) nick, I thought I had him on my friends list, but evidently I didn't add him.....damn Anyways, I remember fish well....good guy, kind of qwazy...fun...good hearted wonder what he's up to these days...probably off fish in his boat somewhere and having a lot of fun.. qwack
  4. AH! yup....I was looking at that vendor as well, they have some plain white trainers that look great! but it's hard to justify paying $40 for a pair of underwear. I just add them to my watch list and keep on going. I might buy them in a moment of weakness
  5. WOW! catie pie! Long time no see! you don't pop in here very often! Nice to see you here though Anyways to the OP, Non disposable pull ups (training pants) I have found on Ebay occasionally. Special-clothes has a nice cloth trainer (pull up diaper) that is flannel I want to try what Very special clothes.com has for trainers, since they state that their design follows the look of the ones made by Gerber.....which would be really cool! I'm still looking for the 'ideal' trainers though... Most adult sized pullups basically suck The ones I have had the best luck with though are called protection plus extended wear (overnight) 'protective underwear'. They are thick, and hold a good amount, but you have to be careful, or they will over flow and leak (like any other pull up) I have tried boosters in them and that seems to help. I also would like to try the Abena pull ups that are available, bt haven't ordered them yet, something on my 'to do' list. Thats as far as I have gotten so far in my quest for adult sized training pants.....hope it helps. qwack
  6. If it needs to go, and is still in diapers, maybe it's time to start potty training!
  7. Well, generally, I don't by kids diapers....so that one is out I just bought a few bags of abena X's and some secure xplus' and secure plus and Bambinos towards the end of last year, plus samples of larger sizes of the same (before I started my diet) so now they are even bigger UGH< Anyways, I also won some stuff off of Ebay, so I figure I spent under $200 on everything. I was in an "obsessive' or Binging' mood, so I am not sure how much, I can look at my credit card statement, but don't feel like digging that up, its not THAT important, But yeah....I rarely buy a case of anything, did it once...*shrug* I think thats because I need variety, so I buy my favorites and switch around, depending on my mood. qwack
  8. This also changes the saying "adding insult to injury". Hmmmmm I wonder if this could be interpreted as peeing in an already poopy (injured) diaper... It sends the mind spinning...... qwack
  9. Well, regardless of what happens or where the market and manufacturing takes disposable "adult incontinence briefs (diapers) " I am still very happy with my old fashioned cloth prefolds and plastic pants qwack
  10. Actually, from what I have observed, There isn't much to compare ABU with Bambino, since the basically are offering different products and have different business models, though the same 'target' audience. Now, if you compare products from ABU And secure personal Care, now you have something more in common. ABU evidently is trying to build / offer several products that have various levels of performance, much like the line offered already by Secure Personal care. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Secure personal Care has A] Premium taped brief (bottom base line product, for moderate usage / incontinence) youth to XL B] Plus taped Briefs Heavier usage, inner leak guards, adjustable tapes, size Med to XL C] Secure Xplus (over night) Heaviest duty, more SAP, Waistband, Longer lasting over night extended wear product size small to XL _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABU Offers A] Super Dry Kids line 1 tape Size Medium and Large B] ABU Cushies 1 tape Medium and Large (same absorbency and SDK product) C] ABU Extra thick over nights Size Med to Large _____________________________________________________________________________________ OK, so this is just a thumbnail sketch to compare the 2 products. Some unknown items, I forget if the SDK (origional) has stand up leak guards, I do know they didn't have a waistband. They do have limited sizing (medium and large only) the new "Cushies" are basically a repackaging (new outer shell) of the SDK, with no further improvements. Performance, for me anyways, as I only tried the SDK (origional) and going by other reviews, is marginal. The SDK hold one(1) flood and thats about it. No SAP, or leak guards so they are (for me) a base line product. The compare with the Secure plus brief, which holds about the same, but which have standing leak guards. I haven't tried the ABU over nights, I don't like the tape panel (U*G*L*Y!) though I 'might' order a sample, and 'might' again order a sample of the 'Cushies", but thats about as far as I believe I would go. if this is being marketed as a 'premium 'designer' product, then it should perform as well as one too, but I was disappointed in the SDK that I tried. Bennetton came out with a 'designer' diaper for kids and it was a superior product that people (who had money) would clamor for, since they "looked great' but also performed better then the domestically available products (IE Pampers and Huggies etc) So I would expect the same from this product line, but it doesn't. Now keep in mind, that i am A D/L and I have my 'technical' requirements that I need when it comes to diapers. Bambino and SPC products fill that bill nicely with both appearances AND performance. Abenas do the same, as many of us know. It might also be worth mentioning that ABena and Molicare offer different levels of products as well, each which perform to a certain level. So thats just 'my' observation of the current state of the ABU vs Bambino discussion. Bambino only offers (1) diaper, but in 2 Different appearances, yet they both perform identically. So theres not much to compare. Thats why I chose instead to compare the apparently growing ABU line with that of the SPC line, since they apparently are trying to come up with several products that offer varying degrees of 'performance.....but I could be wrong *shrug* Just my 2 1/2 cents on the topic at hand qwack
  11. Well, this isn't a real big surprise. DPF has been on the rocks for quite a while, and it's sad that Tommy let it go to that level. I too am curious as to who bought the name, since I had emailed with an inquiry as to what price tag they wanted to put on it, and was interested in possibly purchasing it, but, like a few others in the community who had done the same, I never heard back. At the time I figured it 'might be' worth around $10,000, but thats the name and domain, website, store etc. To me the store was possibly the most valuable asset, beside the name of coarse, but I imagine that they let things rot and go south to the point that there wasn't much left worth buying and the new owner got the domain for a song....oh well.. Such is live in the digital world I guess.....cest la vie I made many friends there and met one of the most wonderful, charming and fun and fun loving people there as well....jenniebear *sigh* It was really the first site I chatted in on the chat room, and spent a lot f time chatting and laughing and having fun with people who "were like me" and I wasn't alone anymore in my desires. I guess DPF is like the proverbial old truck.....it served it's purpose, did what it was supposed to do, and served well, but when time came to retire it to the barn, it had to go...oh well. Onwards and upwards..we have DD now and it is growing and thriving with a younger captain and crew and a large and (fairly loyal) membership, so we move on. Bigger and better...we can remember DPF for what it was, and maybe what it meant...but the present and future is a much different place then things were 10 years ago, and we can all only wonder what the next 10 years will bring R*I*P dpf....thanks for plowing the road.. qwack
  12. I find it difficult to believe that P&G is having a hard time selling size 7 cruisers! I can't find them in stores I go into, and when I stopped into a Toys R us / babies r us ( Christmas shopping ) there were cases of different sizes of pampers products size 4-5 & 6 piled 4-5 high and equally wide, but the size 7 stack was almost GONE! it had 1 case left, and a bunch of empty space around it, where the other cases had been. When Goodnites first hit the shelves, they were difficult to keep in stock, everywhere I went and looked for them, the shelves were either empty or had 1 pack left in the void. By this observation, and I am sure this isn't 100% true for every store in every town USA, but there evidently is some kind of demand for disposable products in larger sizes, for what ever reason. Maybe P&G has their expectations set to high, therefore larger sized kids diapers aren't meeting this 'supposed' demand and so they pull the plug, or relegate the product to the internet only *shrug* Why Huggies bailed on the size 7 who knows, other then what Angela suggested, that there was "limited demand" but I feel that they really gave up because P&G beat them to the punch, but who really knows, other than the member of that respective Board of directors who make these decisions. Just my take on things. qwack
  13. Big Bear and snow summit are BURIED in snow, and I'd L*O*V*E to get up there and do some skiing! maybe even try snow Boarding. But I haven't been skiing in over 10 years, and probably break something But I had though several other times about adding the extra padding for the slopes...have to try it, maybe for spring! qwack
  14. I'll give that a shot.....don't know wy I didn't think of that ....<dur>
  15. Something else that I had though of is, instead of designing a WHOLE new diaper for the AB/DL community, why not take something like an Abena X, or just an Abena super, and redo the cover in a more appealing fashion, or color combination? use the filling and inner liner form the Abena (I use this as an example because to me the Abena X is the clsest thing for adults to the pampers line in design and function) and just have them covered with a different pattern of plastic (or cloth like if you wish) The trick is to get the manufacturer to do so, and you might have to provide your own design for the back sheet, in color and pattern etc, and the materials also, which I could imagine would cost a pretty penny. I'm not even sure how this coul dbe accomplished and what negotiations would take place, but I think it would be a better alternative, than coming up with a whole new design, which would require a new machine etc. Sometimes you have to work with what you have to get what you want. qwack
  16. Wonder how long that stayed up until the management erased it or took it off.....
