  1. I just ordered two cases from XPMedical requesting the expiration year be 2015, I will see if you are correct or if it is maybe a lot# deal since they change the way they make there diapers faster than one would change their diapers them selves! Will keep you informed I've worn them since there creation and stopped after they went to cheaper plastic and tapes and added more polymer absorbent filler rather than pulp bleached wood. anyway I hope your right and they realized it's time to revert back to the original diaper that got them so well known.
  2. You are so right, I also use the white duct tape for those periodic non-stick tapes, I usually split it down the middle to make it the same width as the tape and making it last much longer! Glad I wasn't the only one resorting to this maybe this will help many others, I remember when I was very young I use to use electrical tape only to find it stretches to much and rolls up, I eventually figured out that duct tape works best and needs to be cut off with siccors. I like those doublers for long trips very handy and they do fit perfect, thanks lilme
  3. Sorry my friend to have offended you but this is a News Group intended to express opinion's about "DIAPERS" i.e DaileyDiapers? or have you not learned that over the years? If I'm not mistaken this thread was intended for information "GOOD" or "BAD" about Abena X-Plus's product and nothing other! If you have a problem with me trying to inform others or stating or other wise expressing my personal opinion to people about the diverse flaws of a company's product that continues to take money with a smile and change there product using un-ethical tactics than you need to get a real life other than this thread my friend! if this bothers you this much. or better yet act your real age 39 for a few seconds and grow up and just stop reading this thread if you don't like hearing about the "BAD" side of the Abena product that I have had, or are you going to moderate this thread to how many negative post a member can put on this thread?. I read your about me and was rather mislead, well PLEASE tend to keep the LOW profile if you have nothing nice to add other than trying to start flame wars or moderate a thread to your liking, sorry if you got left in a soggie diaper over night? I am almost 100% certain that starting flame wars are rude and most deffinetly not welcome here, and I don't see where this is trying to make new friends? as you clearly state in your about me dialog. PLEASE be more friendly and try to make more friends like you have stated in your About me post. Not calling other posters "Whinners" thats really acting like a toddler. BD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darkfinn's about me: "I've been online in one form or another in the ab/dl scene since 1998 or so... I tend to keep a low profile, mostly because its easier and I'm just too busy irl with other stuff. I'm very much involved in the local bdsm scene. And I'd like to get more involved with the local ab/dl scene, make more friends etc. I'm friendly and always willing to make new friends. I primarily identify as a DL, I lean more towards the Daddy side of things when it comes to AB type play. I cant think of anything else.. if you want to know ask. feel free to say hi" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I apoloogize if I have offended anyone on this thread but I try my best to stick to the facts as best of my knowledge and I try to word every post so that it is not directed at any one particular member in anyway that might cause hurt or anger or start a flame war in anyway, I would hope that others would also respect others opinions and comments without having to be negative or degrading towards other members, If I have done anything wrong please forgive me for that in advance because this is not my intentions on this newsgroup and I would hope that everyone can understand that not everyone has had a good experience with Abena's products and there is not very many of us to afford creating hatred to one another. Please next time try to not call a poster a whinner that is what I am talking about with the hurtful comments, I am not here to argue or start a war. babydoug
  4. Well pin holes are the least of your worries if buying Abena now days, there tapes sometimes you will get an entire case where the tapes are creased in half causing for them to come off, and lets not forget you only get two attachment tries with these new saran wrap plastic diapers, after the blue tape has failed you only get one more chance to get it right without having to resort to using DUCT tape to save you! If they are splitting up the middle in the rear sounds like they ran the plastic as thin as possible at there expense now costing them to loose good customers that was once willing to pay 55.00 a case for a good diaper, Me I think I'm back to Molicare in efforts to wait out the storm and see if another competitior that listens more to their customers and designs a very nice expensive diaper rather than a generic pharmacy diaper. Sounds like they have cut every corner imaginable at customers expense because I have not seen the price of these diapers go down only their quality but I have wrote Abena only to get ignored as another DL complainer, I hope there nursing homes industry is enough to keep them afloat because I refuse to invest in cheaply made diapers specially when they are 54.95 per case for mediums. thats not cheap!
  5. Lets not forget not only the less padding but also the thinner cheaper plastic covering making refastening impossible! Not all wear for daytime, I use stricktly for night time incontinenece and Abena was not very professional at answering my straight forward questions about there specific changes, To me their just another CVS generic polymer filled diaper, they have lost what they was initially known for and Molicare seems to surpass them in the quality and strict manufacturing guidelines in a diaper.
  6. atleast when Attends made there change from Proctor & Gamble they let you know that there diapers would be made different, unlike Abena and pull a fast one with new packaging and totally changing the diaper without making consumers aware of the change before they continue to buy them. They are just a cheap company cutting corners, making the plastic so soft that refastening them after taped is impossible, not to mention the thinner absorbancy matting, they added the cheaper powder polymers that wick up wetness into a snow ball the diaper loses it's flat metting shape and is nothing like the previous diaper that was made by the same identical company!. I'm back to Molicare's screw that I'm not dropping another penny on a company that pulls crap like this. Likee I said before they are now nothing more than a regular generic pharmacy diaper but 3 times the price. Oh.. and they did say they had so many complaints that they were going back to making the absorbancy matting the same way they use to? have not seen this B.S. happen and I can bet my farm that we won't thats why I decided not wasting any more money on these and going back to the Molicares. atleast they are consistant and have been for years. CVS diapers are better than these now!
  7. From the news from Abena's Reprasentative is that Abena wil be eventually phasing out the plastic backing type diapers, appparently our AB/DL community isn't as big as we thought or maybe the institutions are 90% of there business and they want to cater to their needs. I would have thought since it is way to expensive for most at least all that I have visited Nursing Homes don't even use diapers that much anymore they use bed pads because it prevents families from sueing them over bedsores because of the possibility of ones loved one's being left in a soiled diaper for long periods. So my conclusion is that we all need to write to Abena and come out of our closet's (cribs) and be heard! Let them know there is still a demand out there. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later! well it's starting to happen. BabyDoug Please write any suggestions that you might have to help. even if we could have our own lot of diapers made I would be willing to be an investor and distributor. heck looks like an opportunity to make a little money if one has the time to start.
  8. Yes, lets just hope that they run out of there experimental supply's quickly! I know a lot of senior care facilities now order the cloth backing diapers, so lets hope the supply of this cheap quality hurries and gets distributed to the nursing homes etc. I understand the refasting tape has to be done straight away! If I wake up and diaper still dry I would use it the following night and I would remove the blue tape from the front, noticed you have to quickly pull it to prevent tearing! you are so right. unfortunatly this experimental diaper they made makes this totally impossible compared to the older style. So these are excellent if I can get two night's out of one diaper without it falling apart from the fluff bunching up which they don't do. Cheer's babydoug
  9. I do remember when that was happening, Just out of curiousity do you wear Abena 24/7 only at night or just on occasions? I wear them every night, reason for asking is maybe you don't notice the difference because you don't wear them every day. My wife makes me wear them because our expensive king matress was 3,400. dollars and she also don't like waking up wet. So I get the pleasure of having her put them on me and enjoy every minute of it! But I do have serious issues with my prostate but didn't realize how much pleasure it can be! I don't think it is that big of a change in design just less fluff and I put an older one next to the new and the crotch width was also 1/4" less wide, not noticable if you didn't have one to compare it to. but the thinner plastic is deffinetely thinner it's almost like opaque saran wrap, although some might like the softer plastic since it does make a lot of crinkling noise when you walk so it's less discrete. And the older ones you could re-fasten the tapes with a little care, but these new one's forget it the plastic will tear. Also when the newer one's are wet they don't feel as stiff like an original pampers would from the 70's they sag more and the fluff clumps all up at the bottom like a snow ball. I liked the Attends years ago before they changed then I found Molicare to be the best, but when I found Abena 4 years ago I have been in luv with those diapers since. We all want the realistic feel of what an actual baby diaper feels like and Abena is still good but now they seem to be just another generic diaper with a higher price tag. bd
  10. Here is a cut & paste of one sent from a distributor: FYI I heard back from Abena on your complaint… They said that the factory in Denmark had experimented with taking out some fluff but adding more polymers on the Medium and Large X-Plus briefs. I was told that they have reverted to the previous design after hearing similar complaints to yours and that this should not be an issue going forward. Sincerely, Adam Samela, Inc. d/b/a NorthShore Care Supply Ph: (800) 563 - 0161 www.northshorecare.com
  11. Yes, Abena now has made there diapers with a much thinner plastic and less fluff and more polymer, I heard that so many people complained to them that the company in Denmark is going back to the original diaper. and I have 2 cases of them. I don't know what XP medical's return policy is but I'm sure the shipping would eat me alive. babydoug
  12. For all you that wear Abena Form Xplus you probably have noticed as I have that since my last 2 cases in April they are now made with a much thinner plastic which rips when trying to re fasten the tapes, you could barely due it with the older diaper but the newer one''s seem to be of a much cheaper quality than before! I was so mad to get my 2 cases from XPMedical only to find a different feel diaper, although some may like the softer plastic since it does make them more crinkly when you walk and noisier than the previous diaper. I myself prefer the older diaper, I wrote Abena telling them that I was upset that they are trying to profit on making a lower quality diaper when I would rather pay more money and get the same quality! I just may switch and boycott this diaper all together, I use to love attends until I found Abena but have not tried the Attends 10 yet? All of you AB/DL's need to write to Abena and appeal this move to make profits and tell them to make them the way they use to be and just raise the price if cost is starting to be a major factor. babydoug
