  1. My previous scorecard may be a helpful framework. For those with some level of bladder control (IE not fully IC) it seems most nights are either:

    • A) Waking up and using the restroom - 0%
    • B ) Waking, using the diaper and falling asleep - 5%
    • C) Vaguely recalling "going" at night, but hazy and unsure if I actually remember doing it or if I'm imagining I remember doing it or - 50-60%
    • D) Sleeping like a rock, remembering nothing but waking up soaked - 40-45%

My Background: Not quiet 5 years. Started my journey December 2022, achieved strong results around 18 months or so.

My Outcomes: C/D pretty much every time I sleep. At this point it would be extremely difficult to retrain my self to not wet anytime I'm sleeping.

How I feel about it: Love it. I put several years of thought into it before committing to it and am very happy becoming a bed wetter. The biggest thing I've found that I didn't account enough for is just the overall cost of being a bed wetter. I've replaced my mattress only once but sheets/protective bed covers/diapers add up quickly in cost. The other thing is the concern of wetting falling asleep anywhere. I recently took a flight where I wore a diaper on the plane because I knew if I were to doze off or take a nap there was a more than likely chance that I would be wet.

Where am I now? C/D most nights. . Happy to be able to consistently sleep a solid 7-8 hours without waking up to use the bathroom (which was my goal). Would I do it again? Absolutely. I've found the best thing for consistency is to not celebrate D or C nights. I just accept it's normal and bound to happen and move on. A big part of the mental block when I first started out was thinking about it. Once it became normal and I stopped thinking about "I'm gonna wet tonight!" or "Last night was a C night lets do it again!" to a mentality of "part of my bedtime routine" and just let it happen things progressed somewhat quickly.

Great point, I think it would be hard to lump every single night into just a few categories. There are so many states of Consciousness that it is quite unreal.

A 0-10 scale may also be easier to understand and much more trustworthy.

Cases of 0 would be absolutely no recollection and most appropriate for legitimate accidents "without" a diaper. Best examples are cases like this by SoakedSheets:

"One other incident happened where I fell asleep on the unprotected sofa during the day in just pants and underwear 😰. Got up about 2 hours after falling asleep to a soaked sofa."

Cases of 1 would be any absolute non-recollection of sleep wetting while wearing a diaper.

Cases of 2-9 would be any scale of awareness that may have taken place, even if half asleep or possibly forgotten:

    - If fallen asleep during the void, a rating of 2-5 may be appropriate.

    - If half asleep during the whole void, a rating of 5-9 may be appropriate.

Cases of 10 are intentional voids of complete consciousness from start to finish.

Could you (OP et al.) please adapt this scale? It would add a lot of clarity and likely help you in your training.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't really tracked my nights like this, just if I wet or not and if I had trouble falling back asleep but Ill start doing that to provide more clarity.

Most mornings I get up I'm somewhere between 1-5 on the scale. Many of the nights I have no idea until I wake up for the day if I wet or not. Other nights I do catch it but manage to fall back asleep quickly without really thinking about it anymore.

@SoakedSheets I asked this a while back in your training but I’m curious if you’ve tested yet: do you wet when napping like in a chair/couch or on a plane? My end goal is to wet whenever asleep regardless of the time of day or what I’m wearing.

    This actually happened in September!

    Here's the September update:

    September stats:

    • 22/30 nights with a wet bed
    • 5 dry nights
    • 3 nights did I wake up needing to pee. Was able to quickly use the diaper and fall back asleep no issues. Interestingly enough it was 3 days together. September Sep 15-17. Not sure why

One other incident happened where I fell asleep on the unprotected sofa during the day in just pants and underwear 😰. Got up about 2 hours after falling asleep to a soaked sofa. Was pretty unhappy about that but it was my fault for not going to the bed before falling asleep. Thankfully baking soda and vinegar spray seems to have made sure there is no smell and the stain really isn't really noticeable.

That's it for September update. Until next month!

My question for you- do you have a pre-night routine? In other words, are you chugging a lot of fluids and going to bed with a fuller bladder? Or are you limiting fluids and emptying right before bed?

    Hey Dlmolicares,

I don't have a pre-set routine, other than baby powder and diapering/plastic pants at night. I don't think "Drink a ton so I can wet! tonight." It's just get ready for bed and hop in. If I need to pee right before bed Ill do so in the toilet. If not that's fine also. I think it's part of my mentality which has helped me get to this point.

As for not keeping track. I find it helps me. I try not to think about it too much but if I change something or notice stats getting better or falling off I can point to it and see why and adjust accordingly.

  5. Just wanted to update this topic as well. It's a cut and paste from my other topic. Going to stop updating that one but wanted the stats out there should anyone else be on the journey and finds this thread.

So a few updates starting with statistics.

It appears I didn't update for July so here were my July stats:

    •  23/31 days woke up with a wet bed and don't recall waking up to pee.
    •  4 other nights woke up realizing I was wetting. Was able to fall back asleep (somehow!) in the wet bed. This before starting training would have never happened.
    •  4 completely dry nights. No indications of all of a wet diaper, not even really needed to pee in the morning. Just dry nights which I'm good with as it didn't interrupt my sleep.
    • Spent 3 nights in a hotel in July. 3 soaked diapers and one night sheets! By far my most embarrassing night yet. Thankfully the hotel had mattress protectors. I just requested no house keeping, picked up fresh sheets from the front desk and left the old one in the hall. They were gone within a few hours.

    And for August:

    •  25/31 nights soaked without waking up. No recollection of waking up to pee either.
    • 3 nights waking up wetting. One night was not able to return to sleep easily.
    • 3 completely dry nights.

I no longer pee in the bed during the day time. I stopped this some time ago to cut down on laundry and free up more of my time. If I feel my progress has slipped I will go back to it but I don't think at this point that's going to be an issue. To say I'm past the point of no return is an understatement at this point. No daytime accidents to note.

This has all been my experience, has anyone else tried the extreme training methods I used to get to this point? Hoping others are able to share in the success!

Do you also wet when you're not in bed and fall asleep or nap such as on flights or in a chair or the couch?

I haven't really fallen asleep anywhere but in a bed, when I travel I bring mattress protectors, diapers and plastic pants to protect beds on the road. I wouldn't be comfortable falling asleep anywhere without them at this point.

Great! So nice that you have achieved this. Did this also affect your daytime continence? Or is it really just bedwetting while asleep?

    Thanks!

I didn't keep logs of anything before I started this, I do notice I pee quiet often during the day though. probably a good 6-8 times per day atleast. However I don't know how that stacks up with before becoming a bed wetter. I haven't had any day time accidents. I pee in the bed 3-6 times per day (depending if I go to the office or not) not counting overnight.

I do have 5 sets of the same mattress protector and cheap sheets from Walmart. I cannot state enough how much that mattress protector is worth in saving your mattress. I looked yesterday, 0 stains on my mattress even though I have wet on that thing consistently day and night.

Doing all home peeing in bed is a novel idea I had not heard before.  Like it.  Took me several years to reach the level of bedwetting you’ve achieved in 18 months.  Got to believe “home peeing in bed” would have accelerated my progress.

Whatever, your June results are impressive, thanks for sharing and hope for further "news" in the future.

Thanks! I'll keep sharing as I continue on this journey. So far in July, 3 nights, 3 wet diapers in the morning 🙂.

  9. Hello everyone, In December of 22 I set out to become a bed wetter. This past month, June of 2024, I wet the bed 26 out of 30 days, and 21 of those days I did not wake up at all until my alarm went off. I used some pretty extreme techniques to achieve my goal and wanted to share with those either on the journey or setting out.

First a disclaimer, I am not a doctor, I HIGHLY recommend you weigh the pro's vs con's. While it may not be impossible to reverse adult bed wetting, it can be extremely hard. Keep in mind, any time you fall asleep anywhere you are liable to wet. Coming into this goal I am/was not an AB/DL but someone who had trouble falling alseep after getting up to pee every night. Since becoming a bed wetter I have noticed much improved sleep quality, and energy throughout the day. This was my motivation to do it and I couldn't be happier.

Now that we have that all out of the way and you are committed , it's time to get to training. I'll leave a list of supplies I use at the bottom if anyone is interested.

    1. Get comfortable using diapers if you are not already. Also start logging your dates with a calendar or spreadsheet so you can track your progress over the months.

    2.  Next is getting comfortable peeing while laying down. If you are a side sleeper, work peeing on both sides. I did this in a bathtub at first just to save on mess. No diaper needed (unless you want to of course) but any time you need to go, lay in the tub and start getting used to peeing that way. If you are unable to pee lying down, start by sitting down with your back against the wall of the tub, then as you get more comfortable peeing in that position slowly start inching into a more reclined position until you get comfortable peeing fully lying down. You can also work on this step in the bed but it will require more cleanup.

    3. Make sure your mattress is well protected. Use plastic covers under your sheets and plastic pants are recommended. Every time you go to bed now you must wear a diaper. It will probably be uncomfortable the first few nights, but once you get used to it, it gets much easier.

    4. Now that your mattress is protected, you can pee in any position it's time to transfer your training to your bed. Your bed is your go to place to pee. Any time you are home and need to pee forget about the toilet. It's time to go lay down in bed and urinate. You can do this with a diaper and plastic pants or not.  I would often even do this without a diaper on. Just strip down, lay down, and pee. This may take a while to get used to, but you are going to be doing it every night in your sleep. If you are having a mental block peeing while in bed, the start by standing on your bed and peeing, then working your way down to sitting and start reclining like you did in the shower/tub until you are comfortable in bed peeing.

4a. Whenever you have the time during the day, after you pee in the bed hang out there for a while. 10 minutes, an hour, whatever time you have of laying in the wet bed. It will eventually get cold and that's good. Watch youtube, TV, anything really to pass the time. The goal here is to get use to being in a wet bed, this will hopefully help your body become accustom to it and keep you asleep when you pee overnight as opposed to waking up.

      - At this stage this also means overnight. If you wake up to pee. Try to just soak your diaper and return to sleep. If you are unable at this point, it's okay to put a fresh diaper on for the sake of getting back to sleep for now.

Stay motivated. This is a long term goal, and if bed wetting is what you really desire I think following these steps will get you there. These are the steps I have done and it's worked wonders.

That's pretty much it. These are the things that I found most helpful especially doing over time and especially once I started just using the bed instead of a toilet to pee really sped up my progression. A few other trips that some have found success doing:

    • Going to bed with your diaper slightly wet, even if it means just putting a bit of water in it to make it damp.
    • Trying to keep your mind off bed wetting. I found thinking about bed wetting before bed constantly would keep me up and ensure I wouldn't wet the bed. Making putting on the diaper and plastic pants a habit like anything else is key.

Not caring what anyone else thinks. You won't be able to hide it. Between the diapers, extremely frequent laundry and inevitable smell pretty much anyone who enters your bedroom will know about your bed wetting.

List of items that I use nightly.

    - Diapers: My preferred overnight diapers
    - Plastic/Terry lined pants: Terry lined adult diaper pants
    - Mattress Protector:  Mattress Protector

Hope this helps. A big thanks to @stevewet and @oznl as well as the many others who provided support and tips throughout my journey

  10. Hello everyone following my journey,

Time for an update, and an exciting one at that.

For the month of June I wet the bed 26 out of 30 days. 21 of those days I did not wake up until my alarm with a full diaper and/or soaked sheets!

After 17 months from originally starting I am now a bed wetter. It's not 100% yet, but I think some of the extreme things I have done to get to this point have really helped my direction. I am getting better sleep than any other time in my life. I have more energy throughout the day and honestly couldn't be happier. The laundry sometimes is a bit much, but for me a small trade off for where I am at.

I know one question I see asked on here and have been asked in person over the course of my untraining is, If I wanted to go back to being dry at night, could I do it? I did two nights in June without a diaper on, both nights, wet bed. I think in my mind and the techniques I used of basically turning the bed into a toilet and introducing lying down the same as standing up to pee to my mind and body has led to that. I don't think without intense training that this would be reversable. Which for me I'm happy with, but something to keep in mind for those dipping their tows in the water.

My advice to those starting their journey:

-Any time you are home. Day or night, your bed is now just as a good as your toilet for peeing. Diapered or not. If you need to go #1, go lay down in the bed.

-If you are struggling with sleeping after wetting, start getting used to being web in bed. Lay in it after peeing for a while. Even watch youtube/tv/whatever during the day wet in bed to get used to it. If it gets cold. Oh well, it happens overnight anyway and if you wanna stay asleep it shouldn't be something that triggers you to wake up. So for staying asleep getting used to being wet is key.

-Try not to focus or think of it too much before bed. This was a major roadblock for me. Thinking of wetting the bed was a guarantee I wasn't going to do it. Now my thought is, it's just gonna happen if I want it to or not.

-Be sure to budget for the cost. I like to use Seni Quatro Briefs for overnight incontinence. A case of 40 in my size is $78 + shipping.  These are now required every night, so I budget $80/month just on diapers. At the rate I'm buying sheets also (I went from premium sheets to cheap walmart ones) It adds up. Don't forget the baby powder and supplies to keep clean shaven down there.

At this point i feel like I've reached my goal. I'm happy to help others along the way as many have helped me here on the forums get to this point. Special thank you to everyone who followed my journey and Ill be around from time to time to post :)

  11. Hey @diaperdl actually, yes!

First off, sorry for the long time between posts, it's been almost a year! Still going strong with the untraining at night. A few things have happened.

    - I have had several nights since the new year where I have had dreams of just randomly wetting my self, only to wake up to a wet diaper! (and a few times a wet bed). This seems to be VERY inconsistent and if I think about the dreams before going to bed it's almost a guarantee that it will not happen.

-If I do wake up at night dry, or needing to go. I just empty into the diaper. This happens much quicker than when I first started "untraining".

    - I don't think I posted this in pervious updates, but something that has helped speed up the "process" is whenever I'm home and need to pee, I would instead of going to the toilet I would just strip down, get in bed then pee in the bed. For a few days sitting up once that was easy, then lying down. No diapers. No underpants. Just strip down naked and I guess as my username suggests soak the sheets first on my back, then got use to doing it on my sides (both sides). Didn't bother laying on my front as that's not something I do when sleeping. My mattress is completely covered with a plastic covering (and I have 3 extra mattress covers) so this wasn't a big deal other than the time it takes to do it and time to clean it up. I obviously started doing quiet a bit more laundry but this really drove home the point consciously that a bed is just as good as a toilet. After about 3 weeks of doing this, I started introducing diapers into the same routine. Would start to fill the diapers which obviously (when they do their job well) cut down on the clean up after.

-I have completely stopped carrying who knows about my bed wetting. At first I tried to hide everything when friends came over, but one of them discovered it last year and I was just like, it's a medical problem I've been working on (technically not a lie 🤣) and played it off as no big deal, so did they. Now I just leave my supplies in the closet and when people come over I don't really think about it anymore.

My original goal was to be a complete bed wetting within 12 months (December of last year). So I didn't meet that goal, but that's okay. I'm still going strong and especially since the new year am very happy with the continued progress I've made. I am now hoping to continue to get increased wettings and remaining asleep when wet.

I have thought about just soaking my sheets with water before going to bed to get used to the wet sensation so my body hopefully wouldn't even notice any longer if I had wet or dry, however the one time I tried this it was very unpleasant (obviously) and would probably take the most getting used to of anything I've done this far.

I'll be back to update more frequently. I promise it will be less than a year until I post again!

For what it's worth, you don't have to throw out crappy diapers or pull-ups. Just convert them into stuffers :) Much more economical that way.

    Honestly, that's a great idea.

It's a long haul play.  I think that 99% of us can forget about that "12 month" thing.  It does sound like you're finding it (a bit) easier to go laying in bed though which suggests things are trending in the right direction.

For me, I was deliberately micro-wetting every time I stirred (at least a couple of times per night) and eventually, I started to lose sight of some of those events.  This subsequently was proved to be because I was doing them automatically in my sleep.

A bursting bladder will always wake me.  My wet beds happen because my body never let my bladder fill.

Even today, it's STILL more likely to happen if I'm a bit wet when I fall asleep but that's no longer 100% necessary.

Very true. It's one step at a time, the micro wetting though, how long did you do this until it was automatic in your sleep? I might need to try this approach.

I did venture over to the thread about stents last night. Seems like a super quick way to achive what I desire. Not sure how I feel about putting it all together and putting it in my body though, seems like high risk high reward kinda deal. If I do venture that route I'll be sure to post here

  13. Hello everyone!

Just wanted to update this, it's been a while but honestly not much has changed. Some nights I'm able to wake up, wet the diaper and struggle to fall back asleep. Others I still for whatever reason can't wet while laying down. It's very hit or miss, sometimes it will go a week or so straight with minimal problems then out of no where it's like I can't do it for some reason. I'll either sit on the edge of the bed or kneel on the bed and wet that way.

When I'm on a streak of being able to wet while laying down I can do it in pretty much any position. Not sure why the struggle some random nights and not others. I've also tried a few different brands of adult diapers. Those CVS pull ups which offer "maximum protection" are absolute junk and I threw the package away after one night.

short update, but that's sorta where I'm at. I've yet to fully wet the bed and sleep though now that were over 6 months in. Hoping it happens soon. Also the last couple of days I've found a temporary method that I've been testing. Will post results on that.

  14. I came across this yesterday, gave it a try for a while last night and been doing it a most of today. So far no luck on even getting squirts. Don't really feel like my bladder is contracting either, I've searched around and found a spot below my navel that is definitely more sensitive on a moderately full bladder. I've done 3-5 sessions at a time with the 10 second break then give it a longer break and try again. I've tried laying down, standing and sitting using different speeds (once a second, 100 beats per minute etc). I'ma give it a few more days of trying.

I am curious @Eagleclc if your still around, are you still working this method? Do you have any updates? I know it's a few years down the road but thank you for sharing.

I sleep so much better when wet. I really hope you can achieve your goal. Bedwetting isn't for everyone but for some reason I love being a nightly bedwetter.

    Thanks Steve.

The last couple of weeks I really feel like I have taken a step backwards. I think I was too quick before to celebrate.

I don't know if it's because I have gotten excited but am now struggling consistently wetting on my sides (I'm a side sleeper typically), struggling to fall back asleep after wetting (which honestly was always a struggle but now even more so) causing me to get up in the middle of the night and change then attempt for a long time to try and get back to sleep.

It's pretty discouraging but I'm not stopping. I have my eyes on the prize. Just gotta keep working on it. I find if I think about it or get excited I struggle more. I need to get back to where I was feeling like this is normal and is just going to happen and things will get easier again.

  16. Hey there Pianoboss and welcome to Daily Diapers.

As this topic comes up pretty frequently around here, before we dive into it you must know to be careful what you wish for, especially going poo.

    •  Achieving full incontinence can be extremely hard to reverse if you ever change your mind. It's harder for an adult than a child who is going though potty training.

    •  While the idea may seem great, will it seem great when you are on a date and you can't stop the hot and steamy gravy train that's now filling your diaper with everyone around you enjoying a meal?

    • Out with your buddies and it just... comes out, no warning, no control, just the smell and especially with urine the possibility of leaking.

    • On a plane and your in the window seat. Everyone is sleeping and all of a sudden you have an "accident" the planestarts to stink as you wake up everyone, grab your diaper bag to run to the tiny restroom your gonna have to try and work with.

    • The financial cost of going 24/7. Diapers, pants, plastic pants, sheets, mattresses, blankets all add up.

these are just a few of the scenario's that being 100% incontinent people have to deal with. The list goes on. But if after that you still want this there are guides. Nothing is going to be quick or instant. Start by telling anyone you live with your plans. They are going to find out anyway and embarrassment is something you will get used to with this life style.

From the 12 month program: https://www.docdroid.net/mrvwb7g/12month-pdf

    TLDR version:

Basically just start going instantly as soon as you feel any urge. There is no holding anything in any more. The goal is to shrink down the size of your bladder. Day, night, does not matter instantly as fast as you can go in that diaper. Eventually over time your body will just start doing it without you thinking about it.

There is a trove of information on this subject here. Look around, your not the first one with these desires. But do take the warning seriously. It may seem great but isn't always going to be.

  17. Figured it was about time I swung by and said hello to everyone following the journey here (and for me to look back at monthly updates to see how far I've come).

As we work through 4th month, a not a ton has changed but a few things I consider strong progress overall.

    - I can now pretty easily wet in any position. This just a few months ago seemed like it was going to be a struggle for a long time but now I know I'm doing it, but don't really have an issue doing it. I am confident in my diaper and plastic pants to contain any of the liquid and the excitement of it that was there early on has worn off which I feel is a big part of achieving this step.

    - I continued to get use to the feeling of a wet diaper for the most part. Another strong point I feel. Falling back asleep in a wet diaper is still a struggle but I do try most nights and I have achieved this a few times, I don't spend a ton of time trying, usually 10-15 minutes then I'll get up and change as I do need my sleep. This, however does bring me back to one of the main reasons why I started in the first place, It's hard for me to fall back asleep after getting up. When I succeed as this step of being able to sleep with a wet diaper (even if I wake up to wet and fall back asleep) I will be ecstatic.

That's pretty much it for this update. Always love feedback, tips and helping anyone else starting out. Thank you all for following along on my Journey.

Ill probably at some point clean up my first post a bit, I do realize it's a wall of text to read. 😂

  18. Somehow didn't post a Feb update, but not much changed in Feb besides a lot of struggle. Just this month I have finally started getting more comfortable wetting while laying down (back and sides). This past week I only had to sit on the edge of the bed once to wet. This is exciting because I feel like I've hit my first "milestone" so to say.

The other thing that's happening is I feel like I'm starting to get used to wet diapers. I still find it hard to get back to sleep quickly between the feeling and the thought of "finally! I wet without laying down!" but I'm sure as that novelty wears off it will get easier to get back to sleep.

Good luck and let us know how you travel!

Thanks for the reply oznl, I have been playing on and off still with going to bed a little wet. I think I need to be more consistent on that. As for the travel, it's going well. Only been on the road once so far this year since I started but I bring a brand new plastic sheet, have a dedicated diaper pocket in my luggage and the Terry lined pants work amazing. They really don't seem to leak anything and are comfortable.

Oh, and if something doesn't feel right, stop doing it....

100% agree with this, that's why I stopped trying to "force" this and have been going with a much smoother approach after the first few nights.

Thank you everyone for following me along on my journey, I'll be back soon with another update and if I change my routine I'll be sure to post. I might also start doing a breakdown on here of exact dates I achieve things so that others who follow in my path down the road have a somewhat general idea of how long each goal took me (keeping in mind everyone is different).

  19. A little over a month in and still going. Thank you everyone for the encouragement.

It's been a struggle to say the least. I think my brain is finally getting to the point where wetting the bed is a good thing. I have dialed back the intensity quiet a bit and will attempt for a little while to wet laying down, and if unsuccessful kneeling in bed I can wet pretty easily now. I have tried sitting on the edge of the bed and doing it, and it works for a few seconds until my brain seems to throw a block and it's hard to continue.

One thing I have started doing the last week or so, if I'm home I'll wear a diaper and when I need to pee I'll go to the bed instead of the bathroom and try to pee there. My concern with this though, while I'm training to pee in the bed I don't desire to go 24/7 and I think mixing day and night could be a path to that.

I've had success a few times falling back asleep in a wet diaper, but this has also been another challenge to get used to. I have tried to start my night with the diaper "pre" wet slightly to help get used to it, doesn't seem to do much for me.

I have been using the CVS brand diapers, and will say they hold a ton of fluid! I think I might try not using plastic pants and see if leaks happen. perhaps getting using just the diaper might be beneficial. I'm not really afraid of getting my bed or sheets wet, atleast while I'm training. In fact I'm here to punish these sheets! I may also try just using the goodnights.

I will say it's been a bit discouraging feeling like there is a real lack of progress, but I know this is gonna take time to achieve and I'm putting in the work with no quit in sight.

I  think I mentioned this in another thread but I very much had to practise going whilst laying down. I could not do so at first so had to practise, which was basically me taking baby steps. This did take quite a while (months), especially getting to go fully reclined overnight.

Firstly, every time i wanted to go I would go and sit on the side of the bed, like I was using the toilet and go. This progressed to being sat on the bed but reclining on my elbows, gradually more and more til my top half was horizontal with my legs over the side..

Then I moved to be actually sat on the bed completely with my legs flat, going whilst sat up then again gradually reclining until i was led down completely.

Overnight this wasn't quick and more than once early on I had to get up to go (just basically stood next to my bed filling my nappy). This lessened as I found i was able to go by sitting up in bed. Of course then I gradually decreased the amount I sat up until now I don't have to move.

At the same time (and this may sound a bit mad) I do actually remember talking to myself (and by extension my equipment), saying "go on, you know you want to , its ok, you can go" giving myself permission. All in the name of reinforcement I suppose.....

Anyway this was the method I used, hopefully this may be helpful to you.

Thanks for the tips! You don't sound mad at all, I do the same thing ?

It's going to sound trite but it's just practice.  I can remember when I was practically a kid, seriously struggling to fall asleep in a nappy.  Now of course I'd have the opposite problem.

I think you're on the money with that gradual habituation thing.  Others have told me that peeing standing beside the bed, peeing kneeling on the bed, peeing sitting in bed created a pathway to peeing laying in bed.

Have you considered turning down the "intensity" of your experience here?  Whilst being hydrated enough to generate some "teachable moments" sounds fine, drinking bladder-busting quantities of water (for me at least) would lead to an uncomfortable non-bedwetting night:  my bladder would just wake me.  What if you just used your nappy a little before you get into bed and just sleep in it to get used to that?  Once you're used to sleeping wet, then you can turn attention to where you wet?

I have definitely had to dial back the intensity. I was getting to the point where I was afraid of damaging my body and that didn't seem like it was working, the right way to do it, or comfortable at all.

  20. Thanks Oznl!

Awesome tips, especially with the terry-lined pants. So far my biggest struggle is just trying to pee laying down. I have spent hours trying to do this and with minimal success unless I drink so much fluid that I'm about to explode. I have told my self that the bathroom is closed from bed time until morning and to get use to peeing in bed I will kneel on my bed and go in the diaper then try to go back to sleep, but as always is a struggle. I'm continuing to work on peeing laying down in different positions and hope to see progress on that front.

  21. Hello everyone,

Brand new to DD but long time lurker. Last night was my first night starting my journey to becoming a full time bed wetter. I wanted to share my progress, what works for me, gather advice and encouragement for others attempting down the same path.

Why I want to become a bed wetter:

The main reason I want to be a bed wetter is because I absolutely can not stand waking up at night, going to the bathroom, then attempting to go back to sleep. There have been many nights where I wake up, use the bathroom, then... can't get back to sleep. Minutes turn to hours, then turn to alarm clock going off with only a good half nights sleep. My goal here is to be able to just sleep all the way through the night without even thinking about having to wake up until the morning when I can get my day started. And if that means starting with a shower, throwing the sheets into the washer and changing out of a diaper I would absolutely love it! I have also for as long as I can remember always desired to get back into diapers and now is my chance to do so.

A little bit of background about me:

Without giving to much away, I'm 30 years old kid, a "young" professional. Not married, no kids, live alone and am able to support my self. I do travel occasionally for work and have already planned to be traveling with diapers, bed protectors and plastic pants for vacation or pleasure I'm ready to commit to this.

The warning you are getting ready to type in the comments:

Before you type that comment I know you are getting ready to type, I have put a lot of thought into this. I don't have a partner and know this is something that could throw people off. I understand there are some costs involved and the "headaches" of being a bed wetter brings. This is something I have wanted for a long time. Will I regret it later? I doubt it, but time will tell and I'm willing to make the jump to being a super sheet soaker! (okay hopefully just my diapers and plastic pants, but if the sheets get wet oh well, I planned for it!)

I'll try to post weekly updates of my journey for those following along, welcome!

    Day 1 (Dec 1. 2022)

    - Target run! Don't know why, bit nervous heading into the store. Picked up some other things I needed for the week and went to the IC area. Shelves fully stocked with Depends. Standing there looking at the shelves not really wanting depends pull ups or leak guards, nothing here seemed to be the right fit for me. What I did find though was the mattress protector I was looking for. Picked up the Ultimate Mattress Protector from AllerEase. I also picked up a few packs of their cheapest sheets incase I ruin some early on. Checked out and went onto CVS to see if they had a better selection of diapers and plastic pants.

    - CVS, Tons of CVS brand diapers, and everyone's favorite Depends. I did remember reading here a while back that Goodnites came out with an XL version and it was fitting some adults so I grabbed a case of CVS Fitted Briefs and headed down to the diapers section where they had Goodnites XL in stock. Picked up a package of those that had 9 diapers in them to see if I could in indeed fit. (6 ft, 185lbs, 34" waist approx.) Unfortunately I could not find any plastic pants at either of these stores. So I ordered a pack of 2 plastic pants from Amazon and got luck with same day delivery!

The reason I didn't order the diapers from Amazon is because I live in an apartment and boxes typically deliver to the office. While I am excited to start this adventure, and down the road they will likely know, not quiet ready to go let the word out yet. I have had packages that come in boxes actually show what's in the box or just have a label slapped to the box before ordering on Amazon and didn't want to risk it.

Now with the shopping done, I eagerly setup my mattress protector as soon as I get home. Lay on it, hardly know there was a protector on it at all! Awesome.

After waiting, what seemed like ages for my plastic pants to show up, I was ready to get started. I started with the Goodnites XL, and to my surprise, they actually fit quiet well! Just a tad short in the back, and tight around the... parts... but actually seemed to fit and I was surprised and happy at the same time. If this is the motivation I've been looking for to shed 10lbs or so, bonus!

So after reading many guides on "how to become a bedwetter" going into my first evening I was not expecting it to be an easy night. Used the bathroom about an hour before bed, then started drinking lots of water. More and more water, I went through 3 1/2 20oz bottles in the hour. Had my Goodnite, plastic pants and jammy on and headed to punish my bed for the first of many upcoming nights wondering if this Goodnite would hold, if not would my plastic pants hold? If that fail's my new cheap and likely soon to be soaked sheets and mattress protector would be up to bat.

After laying down I didn't really need to go yet but knew it was coming. I watched some youtube vidoes. Browsed DD board, read a lot of GloomyBaby's posts until I was finally starting to get tired and needing to pee at the same time! It was a race, but I knew I was not sleeping until I peed the bed. This was a massive challenge. Bottle of water by my side that I had been continuously drinking over the last hour or so now, the urge to go grew stronger and stronger but my mind, and bladder holding tight like it's a stronghold.

Tried a few videos from YouTube to help me relax and hopefully pee the bed. Started with a one hour loop of running water, then switched to running faucet after a while. This whole time I was determined not to force it, but also to soak this diaper. After about 2 hours and relaxing and drinking more water I needed to go so bad but could not soak wet the bed. I thought of giving up. Heading back to the toilet I have been a slaves to in the middle of the night for the last 26 years of my life, but my determination won out. Finally I felt a bit of warmth around my diaper. Very little but some. This told me I could do it. Headphones on with running faucet, trying my best to relax. Over the next hour little bit here and little bit there. Minor celebrations as I lay in what I was envisioning a field of rain. Not long after more warmth, and lots of it. Finally, a steady flow. When finally done I laid there happy for about 10 minutes and had to know. Did the Goodnite hold up? Plastic Pants? Soaked bed?! Got up and inspected. Sheets completely dry to my surprise, checked my plastic pant, just as dry as when I had opened the package that evening. My Goodnite however was now swollen more so than I thought it could possibly go!

Completely shocked that the Goodnite held up so well. I switched into a fresh one and went to bed Now about 3 1/2 hours past my bed time. And unfortunately (and expectedly) 3 hours later I was up again to use the bathroom. I decided with my alarm clock looming I would get up and use the real toilet. Todays battle was already won. Even with loosing 3 hours of sleep to start, it still took 45 minutes to get back to sleep I can't wait to be a bed wetter.

Tomorrow I am trying out the CVS brand, hopefully get a bit more room down there. For now I'm working on training my body that it's okay to naturally pee while laying down. Once I have this mastered, no more going to the bathroom overnight. I did have a thought of installing a timed door lock on the bathroom door so I wouldn't even be able to use it between like 10pm and 8am, however for the occasional guest who may stay the night, or if an emergency #2 arises or I get sick I figured this was a bit too extreme and not needed to achieve my bed wetting goals.

Not all my posts are going to be this long I promise! Thank you for tagging along on my journey, for any advice, tips, tricks and encouragement that you y'all bring on this new start of my quest to be a super sheet soaker! My goal is to be 100% helpless overnight and soak my diaper nightly without waking by within 24 months. (Dec 1. 2024)
