Do catherers and/or stents cause urge incontinence?

I'm wondering whether catherers and/or stents cause urge incontinence, since i've heard so many people talk about them. I am not considering using one myself but just curious as to how they affect people's continence. I'm also wondering how long you have to wear one before you get UI, since you don't use your sphincter muscles while wearing.

I can only speak for myself evidently but I have been into catheter and stent play since 2006. I started out with catheters but after a year or so I switched to stents, for to my personal opinion they do a better job as you can feel yourself pee. I never had a UTI or anything like that but I do realize I pushed my luck. Even after all these years I have no signs of incontinence in any form what so ever. If I remove my stent it is back to normal within hours.

Most if not all make our own stents. There are a view topics to be found in incontinence desires related to the use of catheters and stents. I trust you’ll find a lot of info there.
