Wash them 2 or 3 times prior to your first use. They'll get more absorbent the more you wash them. Link to comment

You will love the smell and softness yeah, i'm going to stop you right there man. you should NEVER use fabric softner on cloth diapers, NEVER. it causes repelling which leads to leaks which leads to embarrassing situations.
