Do Anything Today?

Woke up early on a day off and went to the local fire station. They had a quiet ceremony. Lowered the American flag to half-staff, and we all saluted. Then they read the names of all 343 smoke-eaters who got killed on 9/11, as well as a quick mention of the 2 SFFD guys who got killed in the line of duty 2 months ago (one of whom was a highschool classmate of mine)....a simple thing, but it was heartfelt, and......it felt and seemed important to be there in person this year, instead of sleeping in and watching it on TV later. Today should be a day of remembrance and somber reflection for all of us, therefore it was a bit sad to see that only four civilians (myself included) attended the observance today in person. But I'm sure that every American was with us in spirirt this morning.... Personally, I also choose to remember & honor the 6200+ members of the United States Armed Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice attempting to hunt down and destroy those who wish America harm...my sincere thanks to all the public servants (civilian & military) , past , present and future, who risk their asses to protect mine..my thanks also to all the other coutries in the world who have chosen to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with America in its fight against terrorism...cheers you lot!...
