Technically, your doctor should NOT have prescribed Mycostatin, as NO trials have been held on the age groups 17 to 65 years of age. The drug currently has approval, since trials exist for the age group birth to 16. The active ingredient is nystatin, an antibiotic which is both fungistatic and fungicidal against a wide variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi, including Candida. 1 Link to comment
