Dill_Pickle
As an educator, as well as an AB, I feel that we not only should support our young adults, but protect them as much as we can. The internet is full of predators looking for young prey all the time, .... let children be children...and when they are 18, then they can decide whether they want to join a chatroom or not....let them enjoy their childhood and let us not be part of that corruption that a child should not experience until they are well old enough to understand and be able to handle it themselves. I am in favor of keeping the "Adults Only" policy. Yes, there are holes in it that the determined can bypass, and there are certainly teens who are mature enough not to let on their true age by their behavior. As others have noted, basically anyone can read the forums and discover that they are not alone. Chat is not required to get questions answered, and, frankly, would be way too much trouble to moderate, beyond the fact that diapers themselves aren't often discussed in open chat -- everyone there having gotten bored with the subject. Incidentally, chat would take much better care of itself if PM origination was something earned, rather than granted instantly with access to the chat. And yes, in the paranoid age we live in, where a few truly horrific things take over the headlines, but the actual dangers go unreported and unremarked (if you are under 30, the most likely cause of your demise is a car accident), we have to watch our legal backs. Maybe we should pin the posts about the hazards, and the "to catch a predator" stories, and the [That OTHER site].com/Brian Cobb story, and these most recent incidents on myspace. Truthful knowledge of the hazards, the "Why" is much more effective than saying "Don't do this". Link to comment
