  1. I've written about my admitted struggles here...can I ask how you guys manage to get the stent to fold inward? I've read a BUNDLE of comments, but does anyone have pictures or something? I know I'm fumble-fingered to begin with, but this seems ludicrous! I've tried with a lot of different tubing options, sized, implements, and I can't seem to get it to work. The one time it partly did, it cut off the flow and was too bunched up.

  2. I'm not gonna lie; I gave up on stents for a bit. I tried and didn't get anywhere...I built what I believed to be a good, useful stent and I had no issue with insertion other than the same issue a lot of people mention (the curves making it twist a bit, and being a bit more painful/uncomfortable than the average cath would be). But once it was in place...it came out wayyy too easily, without fail, or I couldn't tell if it was IN PLACE properly. I mean, I had this admittedly naive notion that I'd know once it was seated and in place, but I realize now that's just not true. At least for me.

  3. POTENTIALLY dumb question here: I used a stent...I tried and failed multiple times making one, it wasn't exactly COMFY going in, and I finally got a design that was more comfortable, and I got in (after a few tries...I don't know why the crochet hook method seems difficult!). But that lasted until maybe a few minutes later at most when it came RIGHT BACK OUT with the next urination. I know I used flexible tubing, I know I used a size around 14fr like the caths I've used, and I know the ANGLE i used was maybe 45 degrees or so? Well...how do I keep it from coming out? How do I keep it in PLACE better?

Thanks for your advice. Also...if I increase the angle, or if I use harder stents, it feels harder to get it in and much less comfortable. Advice?!

  4. It seems to depend on a variety of factors, including natural muscle control, methodology, and even individual variation in response to the sorts of training used in the 12 month program. For example, I've talked to a few folks here who seem to find the 'reverse kegels' and 'keeping relaxed' ideas difficult, but I had no problem doing so for long periods of time, even when just starting the 12 month program.

  5. Just a quick update:

My genuine incontinence problem is starting to stop, so I had to make a choice whether or not to keep going 24/7 now that there isn't much of a real medical argument to be made. I still have some problems with urge incontinence and I'm still having a bit of trouble controlling myself, but I could easily get by with an incontinence liner or something minor of that sort.

  6. Not to jump into your thread, but I just wanted to share with the only community I know that might be interested: I'm at least TRYING to go for incontinence as well. I had problems with prostatitis that caused mild urge incontinence, and when I went to the urologist and got checked out, was told it 'would eventually probably go away'.
