  1. Ok, I'm going into hospital for a couple of nights in about 3 weeks time (nothing serious - just painful) and would really like to spend at least some of the time in diapers. I'm not asking the normal DL hospital question - how do I get the hot nurse to diaper me, I was just wondering how a person would bring it up in the real world. I was thinking about ringing the ward a day before hand, and telling them that I sleep wet. I could then ask whether they wanted me to bring my own diapers. I am going in the evening before the operation, so that I'm there for the early morning start. I was thinking about mentioning it to the nurse on duty that evening. For most of the second day I'll be pretty much out of it, but would really love to wake up in a diaper. One thing that I don't want to end up with is a catheter. Should I tell them that I'm totally incontinent at night time, so that a catheter won't help? I don't want to get labeled as 'that wierd pervert', but rather be a non-descript person who happens to have a medical condition requiring diapers. Any suggestions? Have any of you ever been in this situation?
  2. Have never had a 'real' accident. My bladder seems to be made of cast iron, and just won't let me have an accident, no matter how much I provoke it. Last week, I was driving the 150 or so miles home from seeing my parents, when I got stuck in the most incredible traffic jam. A lorry carrying propane cylinders had overturned on the motorway, so the fire people had shut the motorway down for about 25 miles, and were diverting all of the traffic through Bristol. Unfortunately, as I waited in the queue, I started to desperately need to go to the toilet - I was getting the most incredible stomach cramps. As they got worse, I started punching the steering wheel becasue they were so painful. After about an hour sat still on the middle lane, I felt the feeling that nobody wants to feel without a diaper on - a very wet slippy fart. I managed to contain myself just about, but decided there and then to climb over the hard shoulder barrier, and go in the field. As I was climbing over, the worst happened - I totally messed myself (worst of all, I was in my best suit). I climbed over the barrier feeling awful, and managed to find a private place to stop to finish off, and clean myself up best I could. I got back into the car (sitting on a map of London - always was a shit hole ) and back into the queue of traffic. By the time I got home 6 hours (and about 50 miles) later, I felt disgusting and had had to stop 6 times in driveways on the way. I jumped into the shower, cleaned myself up, then put on an Abena X-plus. Just the thing to watch the tv in at night. It turned out that it was lucky I did, as about an hour later, I farted and followed through. Oh well, at least this time I was prepared. Back to the shower, and into another X-plus. As an aside, if you use Sudocreme nappy rash cream, everything feels wonderful. I'm thinking about carrying an emergency kit with me from now on in the boot of my car. I was thinking a couple of plastic bags, a roll of toilet paper, a nice thick diaper and a bed pad to sit on. All this could be wrapped in a plastic bag and sealed for emergency use. What do you think? Al.
  3. For the past few weeks, I seem to have been blocked from getting onto the forum part of this website. I really like the rest of the website, but it just isn't the same without reading what all of you lot have to say. I don't tend to post very often, as I don't have a great deal to add, but very much like reading what everybody else has written - that is until about 3 weeks ago. I tried to view the forum, and was informed that I was not allowed. Is it my IP that has been blocked, or everybody with a similar IP to mine? I have found that I can get on for a few hours once every 10 days or so, but then I get blocked again. Any ideas? I have written an e-mail via the 'contact us' link, but haven't received a response - I guess that they are very busy. Ps. Have just got hold of some Abri form X-Plus, rather than the Supers that I normally use - are they incredible, or what?
  4. I don't think that this happened in my case - I think that the Valium did it's job in relaxing me. Come on - spill the beans we might all learn from it......
  5. Hello. I'm Alan, a DL from the UK. For ages now, I have been trying to wet the bed - have been trying everything from hypnosis to alcohol to staying awake for as long as I can. Nothing seemed to work - I always wake up just as I have to pee. A couple of days ago, I managed to put my back out quite severely, and was in quite a lot of pain. I rung the doctor, and he prescribed me co-codamol, anti inflamatories, and diazapam (Valium). It seems that Valium is a muscle relaxant, as well as a sleeping tablet - perfect for bad backs. The doctor told me that as I had pinched a nerve, there was a distinct possibility that I could lose a small amount of control of my bladder when I turned or stretched etc. and caused myself pain - it seems that when you're in agony, you don't think about not peeing. Because of this, my wife suggested that I wear a diaper. She knows all about my wearing, and used to join in. Nowadays, she seems to accept it, but doesn't really mention it too often. Anyway - last night I had been drinking loads of water because I was thirsty (had eaten some salty popcorn). When I went to bed, I put on an Abena diaper, took my pills then went to bed. This morning, I woke up feeling fresh, and didn't even think about being wet, until I went to get up. I realised that the diaper was absolutely huge - especially at the front. It seems that after years of trying to wet the bed and failing, last night I did it without even trying. I'm not suggesting that anybody try doping themselves up with valium in order to wet the bed - I'm just sharing my experiences. A quick note about diapers though... I always used to use Attends Super plus. They were absolutely fantastic. Whilst not quite as absorbant as the Abena, they were soft, comfortable, and quite simply fitted me very very well. Unfortunately, Attends have now gone over to the one tape - velcro system. It is absolutely awful. You simply can't get the tapes tight enough so that the diaper doesn't leak - the cut is just wrong, and the sizing seems all to pot. I have now had to go over to my second favourite - Abena 'Super'. They aren't quite as absorbant as the X-plus, but they are much more comfortable. Even with the most heavy wetting (like last night) they didn't leak at all. Unfortunately, they jus aren't as full a cut as the Attends were. Hopefully, Attends will see the error of their ways when people stop buying their new diapers - and wil go back to the old style.
  6. Just an update to let you know how I got on. First of all, just to give you a frame of reference, my normal diapers are 'Attends 10' briefs, or I have some Abena Large Extra for when I want some more absorbancy. Unfortunately, these are very bulky, and not much use for discreet use under clothes. I flew AA into Chicago O'Hare, and decided to wear a diaper all of the way there. Because of that, I got myself some of the new Abena x-large super. These are more roomy for me, but still have loads of absorbancy for use on a long plane journey. No big problems on the way out there, as I didn't sleep much so didn't wet much. Once I got there, I called into a pharmacy, and got hold of some 'waistband style' attends, which turned out to be fabulous. I always wear at night time, as I wet the bed most nights. If I have been out for a couple of beers, I can even go through a couple of diapers in a night. These didn't leak once, and I wish that they had them back in the UK. For interests sake, I called into a Walmart and picked up some Depends. This is the first time that I have tried them, and thought that they were awful. They leaked all over the hotel bed (at o'hare airport) which really isn't something that I'm into. I wear a diaper so that I don't wet the bed. Anyway - I wore an Attends waistband, with the 6 tapes all the way back to the UK, and didn't need to change once. I slept on the plane (overnight journey) so woke up pretty well soaking. All in all, an amazing country with very likeable people in it (shame about the politicians, but that is the same the world over, I guess) Al.
  7. In the uk you can either go to one particular pharmacy (Boots) and try their own brand, which is absolutely awful (personal opinion) or you can go to specialist mail order companies. Unfortunately, they mainly sell to nursing homes, so don't advertise to the public. If you can find out where they are, you can drive to them or get them to deliver, but it would be 1 case at a time. There is no way to go into a shop and pick something up - it is still something that people in the UK are embarrased to purchase, so simply don't. I'm flying into Chicago, then driving round to Michigan for a business meeting. I lived in Florida from when I was 4 until I was 7, so don't remember much about it. Should be fun, though.
  8. Hello all. I'm a long time lurker, but have never really had anything useful to say before, so have kept myself to myself. I'm off to the States with work next month, and have heard lots of people saying just how easy it is to get diapers in the States. Which pharmacy/ shops should I look in, and which brands should I have a go at. I like Attends here in the UK, but quite fancy having a go at the Attends with 3 tapes, to see if they are any different. All suggestions gratefully accepted. Alan.
