Super impressive stuff. I’m interested to fiddle around with something similar. How did you deal with water intake? Did you have a schedule for that?

I found the FCC filing for the Amazon smart diaper device.
Really kind of uncomplicated looking. I couldn’t figure out what the microcontroller they’re using is from the photo, because it has a green splotch on it. I like the idea of putting some custom firmware on this device because it’s already assembled and has a Bluetooth radio that we can commandeer.

Well this has been an interesting read. I’m also a developer and like messing with electronics. It would be interesting to see if someone could repurpose one of the Amazon sensors to run custom firmware. If we’re able to send the raw data to some centralized computer, then we can do some more sophisticated stuff. We could potentially train an AI model to detect wetting events. This would mean logging manually when we wet the diaper and feed that info into the model so it can learn to notice the subtle differences in sensor readings when a wetting event occurs. What it seems like the standard software is doing right now is pretty rudimentary. It seems like it’s just considering a wetting event as “humidity is above x threshold.”
Aside from getting that right, it should be super simple to make a phone alarm if a wetting event hasn’t occurred.

Good job on your progress so far! I’m curious how much you typically drink before bed?

But "trest" is something I've never heard of. Can someone elaborate? 🙂
It’s a very soft and absorbent diaper.

I’m pretty curious how you deal with messing in social situations? Do you have a sense that it’s going to happen and just leave the room with your diaper bag before it does? I know you’ve gotten completely surprised in the past with a BM. Does that still happen?

I would not recommend waiting two weeks before washing cloth diapers. One week max, ideally every 3 days. Things start to get grungy quick after that.

@as_a_fox I’m almost positive you’re talking about this thread.

Yeah I stand up with my desk if my diaper is particularly full and I don’t want to get my chair wet. It does make going easier.

Hm maybe I will ?

That sounds strange, but I recommend setting a repeating timer and consistently drinking water so that you can practice wetting. It's harder to remain open if you don't have enough opportunities.

I like the idea of safe, temporary urge incontinence so this is an interesting one... do have some concerns about long term effects and predictability of outcome though.
I can’t tell right now. All I know is that as I’ve kept doing it, control is decreasing, urges from nowhere are increasing. I wouldn’t assume this is temporary right now. I may try to wean myself to have a normal functioning bladder after two weeks of doing it, and then I can give a verdict on the permanence. I’ve been at it for a week and a half now.

I would say you’re in the right spot if you feel spurts. It’s below your belly button. You basically press into the location where your bladder is. It has a certain tingly feeling when you get the spot right. Don’t go crazy with it, but I would keep trying. In the beginning I would say it took me a few sessions to actually get it to work.
-
Has any one tried this for more than a couple weeks? I’ve been trying this out over the past few days and I definitely have more urgent need-to-pee feelings when my bladder is somewhat full. I’ve had some unexpected wetting incidents too.
I think this would probably lead to urge incontinence if you kept at it, but it’s hard to say if it would be permanent or not. I don’t think the effect it has on your spincter muscles is significant. I think the reason it works is because it messes up your bladders natural state, and simulates bladder contractions. These manual contractions seem to eventually cause automatic and unexpected bladder contractions.
-
I still have part of a case that I've never used. Was thinking of selling them on eBay.
-
This makes a ton of sense to me. It's very hard to keep your bladder totally relaxed and draining all the time. But it's much easier (albeit more uncomfortable) to not release your bladder all of the way. This would certainly create a substantial change in your bladder in short order, because you're not ever returning it to a state of completely empty anymore. Once your bladder doesn't get exercise, it's flexibility and functioning will diminish.
That said, this doesn't sound like it's for the faint of heart. Incontinence achieved like this will be very different from incontinence achieved by staying relaxed. You will retain urine constantly, and that could mean long-term dull pain in your bladder. I think the ideal way is still to remain relaxed, but for those wishing to achieve incontinence sooner, this may be just the thing.
-
I wear diapers very often to work. I typically drink a lot more when I wear because I really enjoy peeing all of the time. This, of course, means a lot of changing. I typically just walk out to my car and change there. I park farther away from everyone else and always out of sight so it's not too hard. And no one

I think that it is certainly self-harm, no matter the circumstances that cause it. Forcing

No opinions about this? :\

So, if we're thinking about the whole idea of training ourselves to wet in any situation, there appears to me to be one major flaw:
I can't consciously keep "relaxed down there" during the time when I'm sleeping. So, pretty much, my bladder just fills up. Wouldn't this inhibit the goal of trying to reduce my bladder size? If you are bursting to pee when you wake up, you were probably bursting to pee for at least a few hours. That's a really long time to holding a lot of pee. How could this not affect incontinence training? It must make you able to hold your pee better.
Yet, a lot of people recommend that you drink a lot before bed so that it will train you to wet the bed. I get the sentiment, I usually pee at least a little bit if I have drank a ton of water. But I don't empty my bladder multiple times throughout the night. Thus, this would make me have a full bladder the

To be fair, I do not "get tired of it by the weekend." I just don't think I can pull it off without being noticed. I am basically wearing and using diapers all week long, and do

What is it you plan on actually telling them?
Fair point. I plan on saying something to the effect of, "I just wanted to let you know, so that it doesn't come as a surprise later, but I've been having a lot of bladder control problems lately, and I'm using diapers to deal with the situation. I'm trying my best to keep it as private as possible, but it's hard to do that when I'm hanging out with you guys all day. So I thought I was important that you all know about it."

I would just look into Behaviorism, especially understanding B.F. Skinner’s contributions with reinforcement and punishment. I was a class or two away from a psych major in college, and that would be the relevant material. Behaviorism has the benefit of being awash with research on non-humans (mostly mice), which is all directly applicable to this. Psychology is mostly a soft-science and is hard to prove. Behaviorism is the closest psych gets a hard-science.
