She opens the water for him and gives it back

Karen comes back, this time holding a white to go box on a plastic tray. 

"Sorry about the wait. I have no idea where the person is who is supposed to interviewing you. 

I brought you lunch"

 

She puts the tray on the table. The whole meal is going to be pretty hard for Benny to eat by himself:

There's a chicken leg, a fruit cup, a mini corn on the cob, a side of beans, and bottle of water, but not the baby kind he's used to: a regular adult kind. 

She puts the tray in front of him along with a plastic spoon.

"I don't have to stay.

We have to talk to you by yourself, away from those people. 

You can just play on your phone. The bathrooms are across the hall.

I'll be back soon"

And with that, she leaves and closes the door

"Well, that's good.

I'm sure they'll be here to interview you soon. 

Stay here. I'll be back to check on you soon"

 

She tells him

They get to the meeting room. 

There is some free space, and there's a table with office chairs surrounding it. 

 

And she says:

"Well, someone has some questions to ask you about your case. I don't know much about your case. I was just told to bring you here so they can come ask you questions. Okay?

Have a seat. I'm sure they'll be with you soon"

She is flattered by his compliment, as she's very full of herself

"Thank you. I'm Karen. 

Why are you here?" 

 

She asks. She had access to his file it's on her desk, but she didn't read it. She was busy wasting time on her computer and booking her hair appointment to be bothered. 

Of course the reason why he's there is in the file. Also noted is everything about the case, including Janice's notes that he's in diapers and is supposed to be supervised at all times. 

They walk down the hall, her in front of him

The officiant is used to getting a lot of attention as she has jewelry on that hand and she thinks that's what he's teaching for

so she says:

"Yes, this is my ring. You like?"

As she guides him into the hall way

"Come with me, Ben"

She taps her pen on the clipboard as if to indicate that she's on a tight schedule

A very disgruntled woman enters the room, barely glances down at her clipboard, and says:

 

"Is someone in here named Ben?

I'm supposed to take him to an interview room"

 

Mommy and Daddy stand up with him, but she says:

"Who are you two? Is this Ben?

We're supposed to talk to just him. You two have to wait here"

They arrive and wait in the lobby. The wait takes about an hour. 

They walk around with him in the room, play with toys from the diaper bag, and put on Bluey on the TV.

"See that's great, Sweetie. 

We're all done with breakfast, so let's get going"

They get in the car and drive to the courthouse.

Mommy looks up from her breakfast and says:

"You're right, Sweetie. We're going back to the courthouse. Thry want to talk to you. 

Be a good boy and answer them as best as you can, okay?"

The three of them enjoy the weekend. 

On Monday Daniel takes a call: Benny has to get interviewed about getting guardians since he's technically "of age".

So Daddy dresses him much like they did before in the polo shirt onesie and sweatpants so he looks "serious".

He brings him downstairs and feeds him breakfast.

Daddy comes in and reads him a story

Mommy gets him all cleaned up and changed into a fresh overnight diaper.

She puts his pajamas on, unzipped of course and then carries him over to the rocking chair to nurse.

She gets situated and then opens her bra: "Are you ready, Baby Boy?"

Mommy lifts his legs and starts wiping him. 

She tells him about her time with the baby to distract him while he gets changed.

 

"You'll see her soon. They're still figuring things out. 

Phew, you really did save all those poopies for Mommy. Does your tummy feel good now that your poopies are out?

We went to the same baby store we took you to. We saw Scott and got her some furniture. 

Speaking of which, we'll need more diapers for you soon. 

I hope you don't mind, but she had to ride in your car seat on the way over there. But she didn't eat any of your snacks. I kept those for you. 

We got her a car seat too. Just like yours"

When he runs in, the smell comes with him

She hugs him back and picks him up.

 

"Hi, Baby.

Did you have fun with Daddy?

Baby Girl is all settled in with her new big sisters. 

Did you save your poopies for Mommy? Yes, I can change you"

 

She takes him upstairs and puts him on the changing table

Daddy walks him inside

At that moment, Mommy comes back. She opens the front door

Daddy finally catches him and smells the air around him

"Let's go inside and change your diaper buddy.

You pooped. Then we can come back outside"

After they finish eating, Daddy puts the plates away, and they go outside. 

Daddy lets him "paint" the fence with water and he runs around the yard with him to keep him busy

"We're having a burger and some fries. You like those, right?

I saved one for Mommy.

She'll be home soon. 

But we're going to have some special fun until she gets here. Special Daddy and Benny fun"

Daddy pushes him in the swing and they play on until it gets late, then he takes him home and puts him in the high chair for dinner

He wipes his face and hands, then spreads the changing pad out and changes Benny into a dry diaper.

Then they leave the ice cream store and drive to the park, letting Benny run off the sugar

Daddy picks him up and says:

"It's okay, Buddy"

He feels the squish in Benny's shorts

 

"Lets get you un-sticky and change your diaper"

He carries him to the bathroom

Daddy gets him a cup with both, and a cone with his. They sit down to a table, and he puts Benny in a high chair. He puts a bib on him and lets him serve himself while Daddy eats his
