I typically wear 2 but usually 3 dry care at a time. Handling changes in a restroom isn't practical for me. It might be overkill by one diaper but I've come to prefere the extra security over the added bulk. I too as said above cut verticle slits in the first two. I can get through the big part of the day without a leak 99.9% of the time.
