randominterestedperson Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Hi Being Belgian, I usually do my ordering of diapers at diaper-minister.com. I was planning and calculating my best options, and I figured that might be helpful to someone else out there as well. So, here's some basic calculations on getting value for money. Zander Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Do you have something against Kiddo, Land of Genie, Nappies R US, ABU etc? Also, sure the LNGU and Tykables might be more expensive, but they are great diapers. For us Kiddo come in pretty high tier too. LNGU Dragoonz + Little Melody, Kiddo Premium Night + Sea Friends + Playtime, Rearz Daydreamer + Critter Caboose, NRU Tinimals, and Tykables Unicorn + Camelots are all great diapers and they look really cute on a little. ABU Dinorawz are pretty good and print wise I agree on the Aquanaut and Astronaut for the Crinklz.

But seriously, I just checked the diapers I was interested in. Personal tastes and all that. If I can find some time over the weekend, I'll try to go over all the diapers on diaper-minister, give you guys the complete breakdown. It's quite a bit of work to do it for every diaper though. 2 hours ago, Zander said: Also, sure the LNGU and Tykables might be more expensive, but they are great diapers. Big Ears Babies are absolutely my favorite and that is unlikely to change. Pun intended.
Little Sherri Posted April 16 Posted April 16 This is interesting, and it also confirms my Canadian experience that the BeDry Night Premium (BeDry Night, over here), is a strong value. Although the ISO capacity claims for any of these products, particularly at the high end, are marketing fever dreams, in terms of real-world performance. The BeDry, for example, is a great diaper - I wear them all the time and know them well. But the idea that it could contain 12 litres, IE 12 kilograms - 26.4 pounds of fluid - is absurd. I've weighed a few of them over my "career", and generally never gotten past around 3.5 kg, in a diaper that didn't leak catastrophically, so about 3500 ml. I'd have to spend the day in a bathtub to get far beyond that. But, here's the thing - that's about 24 hours of wee, at least for me, and a lot of the time, I have to change well before a full rotation of the earth, because I have to go somewhere or do something that would be hard to navigate in a bulging super-diaper that was at the edge of failure. That's why I also stock diapers in the 5000 - 7000 ml range, for when I am away from the house etc. It's interesting that you pay in Euros about exactly what we pay in CAD for them - not a bad deal at your end. They'd be $3.63 CAD, and at the current exchange rate, you are paying 3.76 CAD. I tend to buy them on sale, when I can, usually for about $3.10 each, by the case. I wish we could get the LNGU products here - at one time, they were apparently available, but they can't currently be ordered to Canada. Not that they'd be a better value or would perform better than what we can get, but, they are cute.
randominterestedperson Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 @Little Sherri You are quite right that the ISO capacity is not "correct". It's still a good relative indicator though, where a diaper with a 7000 ml capacity will hold up better and longer than one with a 5000 ml capacity. I've noticed this with Bunny Hopps versus Big Ears Babies. A day at the office in a Big Ears Baby is less likely to go wrong than a hypothetical day in the office in a Bunny Hopps. And yes, I expect the 10k-12k diapers could hold me over a full 24 hours (two Bunny Hopps will do that as well). I wouldn't want to do that on a normal day, but when you have a day off and are just staying at home? It's nice to have the option. 1
