How much do you spend on diapers every month?

Hey everyone, I’m fairly new to dealing with overnight leaks and an OAB and trying to figure out the diaper game. Right now I’m using premium diapers at night—usually 2 per night—and I just realized I’m spending about $100 for 20, which only lasts me a week and a half ;-;.

I’m curious about what works for others:

• How much do you spend on diapers each month?
• What brands do you like/ use?
• Any tips for keeping it comfortable without breaking the bank?

Would love to hear what’s working for you all—trying to figure out a setup that actually works long-term. Thanks!

what premium diapers are you using?

As once you fall asleep you should not have to get up in the middle of the night to change.

I would consider buying a case at a time.

like Betterdry or Mega Max.  Those 2 can hold up for 8 to 10 hours easy.

or you might want to switch to cloth diapers for bedtime with plastic pants.

those will hold a lot more.

A case of Mega Max can last me a month and a half easy.  And I usually only wear during the day for over 9 hours.

Maybe some more experienced 24/7 users can chime in.

I ordered some rearz lil monsters, some little blue babyfur, and some other samples.  I have a pretty sever OAB so I'll put one one when I get home from work and change before bed.  I wet pretty heavily at night too.  I've just been getting them off amazon for now.

@Diaper Bearer: Most months, near zero.  I wear cloth diapers and protective pants.  So I spend significantly more when I buy replacements.  Overall,I’d say I spend less over time.

You will always spend more if you go for the Abdl printed diapers other than crinklez you wont find them at a reasonable price. I use either Wellness, which are $90 for 60 or Betterdry which are $115 for 60. They both last me all night. Buying by the case is always better cost wise. Wishing you all the luck finding what you desire.

I’m paying about 130 a month for mega max, and usually I buy boosters as well It’s actually every other month as I’ve staggered my buying so I have enough as to not run out

In terms of controlling costs for "this" habit, I focus on the per-unit consumption rate and cost, and pretty much let the months take care of themselves. I've been in diapers for 7years now, and across that span of time, I've seen my use patterns become more practical. When I started out, both the novelty, and anxiety regarding wearing constantly, dominated the headlines, so to speak, so I tended to either wear ABDL printed diapers I'd never tried before, or, lightweight, low-end medical products. That's essentially the most expensive way to live, I've discovered. 

Experience has taught me that good diapers pay for themselves in the long run, and that good diapers can be had for reasonable prices, if you take advantage of sales, and buy in bulk. My first focus was reducing the number of products I was consuming, irrespective of the cost per unit. I've moved my average way, way down from when I started out, by upsizing my wardrobe, and also sanding the edges off of my anxiety about how noticeable what I'm wearing is - experience has taught me that very few people pay attention to what anyone is wearing, and even if the odd eagle-eyed stranger does notice an errant diaper line, so what? So, right now, I'm down to an average of about 2 good diapers per day. There are days that require 3, or even 4, but also days where I wear 1.5, in 24 hours, so the average is right about at 2 per day. 

If you have to get up and change in the middle of the night, I am going to suggest that you're not wearing the right product for you - either the capacity, or the fit, are not working. 

Next, I try to buy good diapers on sale, whenever I can. My dashboard is calibrated in CAD, but for me, if I can get a diaper that will last 10 hours, for around $3, and then a diaper that will last 14 hours, for around $3.50, my daily average expenditure is around $6.50. That puts me at $197.70 CAD per month. I leave a bit of elbow room in there for splurges - I will still buy the occasional novelty item, just because I've never tried it before, or I like they way they look. But if I can stay within, say, $225 a month, to me that's reasonable - it's better than spending that on coffee.

I wear cloth diapers at night. I have 4 diapers that I use baby diapers as soakers in. Back in the days of cloth diapers any mother would tell you if the baby leaked they would add another soaker until there were no leaks. I don't have leaks and because they are reusable I save money. I use 2 disposables a day and I buy only by the case. I use Gary 7 mil thick high waisted plastic pants with enclosed elastics that won't wick urine into my bedding or PJs. It's as close to bullet proof as you can get.

Well, it's been said ... buy in bulk (by the case).    Also, if you have a health plan with a Flex Spending Account, you can buy your diapers using pre-tax money.  Even some ABDL brands (ABU and Rearz definitely).  

From your description, you're changing just before bed, but not in the middle of the night.  Depending on how wet you are at bed time you might find that you can switch to a mid-range product (4500-6000ml range vs. 6500 and up).  Those are either cheaper per case or come with more units per case for the same cost.   

I'm not 24/7 and only wear once I get home from work and frequently all day on weekends (but not always).  I don't wet in my sleep either but I still wear to bed mostly for pleasure, but the practical side that it helped avoid loss of sleep once I started having to pee at night.  

And also as said .... you can go with cloth.  Up front cost can be steep but they'll last for years.  I just bought some flannel diapers from Dependeco (first time trying them I think).  They're $40 each.  I don't ever get an "all-in-one" type diaper anymore.  So these will require a cover - either vinyl or PUL.  I also got some of the cloth boosters.   I've also have some from Kins and Leak Master (didn't really like those though).   I don't wear cloth very often - so I don't have a lot of them.

I spend between £163.00 to £300.00 a month on my nappies. I wear 24/7 and the cheapest I can do it is £163.00, This is for a case of BetterDry 10 (60 nappies) and 4 packets of Tena Slip Active fit maxi (88 nappies) The more expensive side to my costings is when I go for AB nappies, My favourites are Kiddo Playday. These are £81 for 40 nappies but I think are well worth the money. I also like Trest Elites but these are for my luxury nappy wearing time as these are £30 with delivery for 10 nappies but they are very good nappies.

I think for price and premium you can't go wrong with BetterDry, I wear these every night and hardly ever leak and because I'm paying £1.10 a nappy they are very cheap here in the UK. BetterDry is by far the best nappy for incontinence and for bang for buck. I really recommend them if your on a budget... I don't even have a monthly nappy budget, can spend as much as I want on nappies and I still use BetterDry as I think they are really good for my IC, plus they are a European company which I also really like. Crinklz are there AB printed nappies, same as BetterDry but with prints. Give them a go.

@Crinklz Kat: Not necessarily true.  It depends on the company's plan and unfortunately, there are pressures that tend to negate this option.  When I started work at my current company, I set up my initial FSA with plans to buy a set of cloth diapers an plastic pants.  The plan explicitly listed "incontinence supplies" as something covered.  I didn't catch that they also had an absolute "NO" for "diapers".  My initial request for reimbursement was rejected.  I appealed based on the fact that incontinence supplies was listed as approved.  The company gave in and reimbursed me that time and told me to NOT do that again...  So anyone planning this NEEDS to explicitly verify what IS allowed on their company's FSA plan BEFORE expecting reimbursement.

I spend roughly 150 a month for 60 diapers from Northshore Care. Say what you want but they hold up through the night for me.

I Spend around $200-$250CAD per month on diapers. I buy by the case from Rearz and ABU Canada. I buy cases of Pampers as boosters which I use in every diaper. I like to look at it as I wear Pampers and use the adult diapers as diaper covers.😄

I was spending $150-$200 a month. But I was able to make an appeal to the VA and get my diapers delivered for "free". I say free, but really I traded my health for the VA services. Still, it's nice I no longer have to spend that much.

I spend 170€ -220€ each month for 2 cases Better Dry and a case Ontex Rectangular Inserts Maxi+. It´s enough for 4 diapers and 5 booster pads a day.

I spend around 140 a month, it varies but typically 5 Depends tape on diapers and when I need more capacity I will use Megamax but I prefer thinner diapers and changing more often is not much of a problem. More average time in a dry diaper then a half wet one for most of the day. I do use the occasional kid's diapers as stuffers if I am not able to change as often as I like. I rarely flood so I get more time out of a cheap diaper. Cloth diapers still need to be washed and dried and that costs money that most people don't calculate into the cost.

I'm down to spending about $40/month just for boosters. I'm finally getting Megamax diapers from the VA, which is saving me over $200/month. Though I sort of already paid for them by trading in my health while on active duty.

I spend too much on my diaper habit, that's sure. I am currently trying to stick to cloth and cotton trainers (the Baby-Pants My first will hold two wettings), to keep the cost down. I mainly buy Sunkiss TrustPlus overnights at $21 for 12, and I splurge and get the Masterpieces at $32 for 10. Probably spend about $80 a month. Since I don't wet in my sleep I wear cheap Walmart branded men's overnight pull-ons at $9 for 16 of them. They are almost as the ones costing 3 times that much. I ususally get up in the night and use the potty, then wet starting when I wake up, changing of they're full.
