mrnobody55 Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Hi I am doing some research and would like really love to hear your opinion. what are the things that really matter you in a diaper? for example- comfort, absorbency, tapes , leak guards, crinkle vs quiet, prints, fit, backsheet type (cloth or plastic), ect. also if there’s something you wish brand would improve or add , what would it be? i’m not selling yet but just wanted to know more information from people here in the community and beyond 1
Little BabyDoll Christine Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Does the world need a 5001st throw-away adult diaper? Especiall given how niche that market is. And just how niche is the ABDL end of it. Nobody goes there anymore because it is too crowded. Unless you have a real stand-out, it will get lost in the crowd. And that stand-out quality will be totally unexpected because you could ask 9,358,724 people what they would like and nobody will have thought of it. Then there is the cost of materials and labor; gotta be dirt cheap since it is a use-once item. Try and find that. Since it is most likely that they will be made out in East Kupkake somewhere that God never heard of, there is logistics cost. And you will have to order in the hundreds of thousands of units at a whack. Then after 2 or 3 years comes the invitable quality deterioration since nobody likes to pay 2.50 a shot for something that is going to hit the dumpster after on use and the proce of manufacture keeps going up. Look at what has happened to the wunderwttums over the last 5 years and just how many are switching to cloth for reasons of economy I would like to do that with the BabyDoll line, which is currently DIY. The personal care products would be kind of easy. I have not made the baby powder yet and I might clange the Bath, Body and Baby Oil to have less glycerin and mor coconut oil. I will try it on my next batch First Question: Does the world need the 3001st line of throw-aways? They diaper I would change slightly to fit into normal sizing. I would like to add panties in both plastic and rubber in the 1940's style. Both front and back were identical, looking like to "rear"s of a modern panty put together. When in use, they resembled the very short pantaloons of the 14th-16th centuries, full cut with very short lets. They could swallow up 3 night diapers. They did not have, or need, forward-facing legs and were far more adjustable than modern panties. I would also keep the large size range of each size like the Gary
imabkn Posted November 18 Posted November 18 There was a guy on ADISC who was able to convert some adult diapers into baby cut diapers. The rear pad had a rectangular shape as did the front, he moved the leg gathers out and I think widened the crotch and changed the wings. The photo's looked really good and he said it actually worked better than the typical cut most adult diapers have. Unfortunately, since that side is gone I think all photos are lost. But if you could replicate that, then you'd be onto something that no other current manufacturer does. It would probably sell well. I true baby diaper cut adult diaper.

The focus of adult diapers is on the amount they can absorb, which while somewhat needed for bowel incontinence, is not a huge necessity. What is needed is taller inside leak guards, and more space in the rear. Stronger leg elastics would be a plus too. 1

What have they been doing all these decades; playing friesbee with the man-hole covers? These are 100 billion dollar corporations, not the coner grocery store. Tres pathetique

Urinary incontinence is much more common, add in ABs pushing for more absorbency. Plus much of the time the current product works. But just like with babies, every so often there are messes that aren't contained. For some people this occurs more often than.

It is not like sell-crapping started last Monday and, in the scheme of things, AB's don't amount to a piss-hole in the snow in Antarctica. Also the companies make more than one model of diaper. Beyond that, if the overloads "just happen" then a fix is not possible or we would have Abena SHT. So, it is as I said. Is the 501st brand going to make that much difference? Further, does it have a cupcake's chance in Tiny Tina's Tiara Teaparty?. Think of all the money and time you neeed: Then DOUBLE it

ABs are a small percentage, but they are driving the increases in absorbency. Take a look at the AB designs and what they absorb. Yes companies make more than one model of diaper, usually the difference is in absorbency, maybe a difference in whether they have waist elastic or such. The rest is often the same. A fix is possible, by designing the product to address the problem. With the attitude of "a fix is not possible" we'd still be hunter-gatherers hiding from wolves. I have no idea what the costs or time would be. Although I imagine the time would be a fraction of what you think it would be. What do you care? You wouldn't be a customer anyway. Personally I get tired of having to clean up, then clean up wherever I was, then check the floor between where I was and where I got cleaned up. This is real life, not some fantasy.
Little BabyDoll Christine Posted November 19 Posted November 19 For the fix to work, it would have to be ECONOMICALLY worthwhile. "Possible" is contextual; would it make sense from a business standpoint? If it did, the big companies would be schooling around it like sharks. Imagine whout would happen to the first comany that addressed the issues you mentioned and said so? As I said, we would have had the "Abena SHT" a long time ago. If you notice the problem, what makes you think the R&D departments of Ten, Aben, Attends, Depends, Tranquility and Proctor and Gamble and god knows who else, have not noticed it, and decades ago? That is what they ged paid for I would think that AB's would also be a market driver for diapers that could deal well with BM's given some of what I see here. Also, I think AB's have their own, separate market like ABU, Bambino and the like and are not a part of the IC clientel. If I had to use paper diapers, I would go with the AB companies if I could. I also do not know if the Abena's, Tena's and Tranquilities of the world want to touch kink with a 39-1/2' pole; what if it got out? I can just imagine Trump getting a hold of that By costs and time, I meant startup costs for a new brand to be developed, enter the market that must be near saturation with companies, and get traction. You have to expect to eat all costs for two years minimum, which is the time. All of this is a mighty big ask
soggster Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Something I value in a diaper is width - I find too many are narrow at the crotch which leads to pee flowing around the sides of the main pad when it inevitably bunches up. Adding to that, high leak guards are important to me, as any liquid which doesn't immediately absorb should be persuaded from flowing sideways especially when the main pad has thickened after usage. Some diapers end up with the main padding taller than the leak guards which makes them pointless 2

Little Sherri Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Function comes first; whatever type you end up making, make them the best they can be, for that weight or price point. People who actually live in them will appreciate that, and those people buy more diapers than weekend warriors. Value is important, as well - amazing $9-per-unit products will be occasional indulgences, for most people. But a leaky $1 paper towel with a plastic cover is worse than that. What am I looking for, ie what does the market not offer, right now? There’s lots of great, high-capacity overnight options, so I’ll leave those aside. 1 - a lightweight but functional, breathable (cloth-backed) printed product, for use on days when you need a slimmer option, such as going to the gym, or under dressy clothes. Picture a Tena ProSkin Stretch, with more capacity, stretchy wings, like a modern day baby disposable, a single, large tab on each side, and a light print on them, inspired by modern Huggies or Pampers designs. 2 - paradoxically, to the above, a daytime weight, medium-duty plastic diaper, along the lines of a BeDry, with non-juvenile print options. Think pinstripes, or a golf theme, or footballs, or sports cars, or flowers or beer mugs - “fashion prints”, that don’t look like they were designed to appeal to a 3-year-old. Don’t get me wrong, I love ABDL prints, and own lots of them, but that’s the point: they exist already, in droves. Plaid diapers? I’m in!
