Dubious Posted July 2 Posted July 2 ABU Peekabu might not be a good work diaper, cause it splits in the seems in the rear, leaving fluff everywhere. Not really a problem at home, but today it happened at work. Thankfully my coworkers are blind. Tomorrow I will most likely try Northshore Megamax to see if that is better, which I guess it is, and then that will be my work diaper. 1
Cute_Kitten Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Do you think it was a one-off/ faulty diaper? Has this happened at home with the Peekabus? I think the Peekabus are adorable, but it's been a hot minute since I've worn them. Last time I got a bag of them was...oof, a few years ago. I'm glad your coworkers didn't notice. That would be embarrassing! I'd be mortified if a diaper ever fell apart on me at work or out in a social situation. (A peril of being padded, I guess. 😂) I haven't had a diaper fall apart on me, but I've had a few leaks in public, especially when I wear thinner diapers and instead of changing frequently I assume the diaper can hold more than it actually can. 🤣 I've had good experience with Northshore Megamax, it's one of my go-to everyday diapers. I hope you have better luck tomorrow with the Megamax.
Little Sherri Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I've had this happen, thankfully not at work, but I was out walking the dog a while back - probably at least a couple of years ago - and it was a hot day, and I guess I'd been in the diaper I was wearing, for a while, and suddenly, I felt a sensation like snow, or mist was landing on the back of my legs, while I was walking down the street on a dry, sunny evening. I realized that the adhesive or material at one of the leg gathers had let go, and fluff was slowly making its way out, as I walked, and tumbling down my legs from inside my shorts. This was inconvenient, but at least I was close to home when it happened. I also once tore my diaper while squeezing past a dog crate in my room, when the dog was a puppy, and lumps of wet SAP and fluffing trailed across the floor behind me, which I had to clean up, before the dog found them, lest he eat them. My wife was concerned that it was toxic, although I pointed out that we don't put babies to bed wearing bags full of toxic gel that they could potentially get into. She thought maybe adult diapers were different; I said, "Nope, they're just oversized baby diapers." 1
ValentinesStuff Posted July 2 Posted July 2 @Dubious just pretend it's an old Attends from the late '80s early '90s. They were great diapers at the time, but had a tendency to lose fluff. 1

Happens with about 90%, but it wasn't really a problem until today. They are all faulty, but I still buy them as they are the cheapest ABDL diapers I can buy, and I love the plastic. Barely any glue so if you are active, it will split. At home it's not a problem, as I don't wear clothes and can just pick out the fluff.
DailyDi Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yikes! I haven't had a fluff storm in years. Bambino's don't have that problem.
Torgen Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I feel like when I've had trouble with the PeekABUs tearing it was at the front, on the tape panel. Not sure if that was a bad batch; also I think I was doing bottom tapes first then, which may have meant it was too tight around the legs and the panel failed rather than the tapes.
Crinklz Kat Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I can't say I've ever had that problem with the Peekabus. Likely a problem with that particular batch.
drynot Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Storytime. Many moons ago I attended one of my best friends wedding. I'm not a drinker so very little alcohol gets me right topsy-turvy. I proceeded to get right blotto at the reception. Thankfully my wife was around to get me back to the hotel safely and into an Attends diaper. This was when Attends made a decent product. During the night I wet....A LOT. Not only was the hotel mattress soaked but that diaper was far beyond capacity. I took off that completely soaked diaper and attempted to roll it up as usual. Well...that poor little diaper literally EXPLODED! There was pee soaked SAP and diaper fluff EVERYWHERE! We cleaned the mess up as best we could. Left the maid a 20 dollar tip and high tailed it out of there. To this day I've never returned to that hotel. Thankfully we have much better diapers today and I always wear a pair of lined plastic pants to cover my diapers if I've been drinking in an attempt to prevent another incident. So far...so good.
rusty pins Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Went to Wisconsin Dells 5 years ago, very hot and super humid. Wore disposable diapers 24/7 with shorts. Took the boat trips and did a lot of walking at the two stops. Got back and decided to change my very wet diaper. The motel was 2 blocks from the tour boat launch so easy walk. I had a Mega Max on, and once inside the motel I dropped my shorts. When I started to untape my diaper, fluff poured out all over the floor, and I mean a lot of diaper fluff! The inner lining couldn't keep up with the walking, heat and humidity along with being wet. Fortunately the room floor was vinyl laminate and not carpet. Still it took me a while to clean the floor and bag up all the padding.

abdlwpg Posted July 3 Posted July 3 If it's happening with multiple batches I think you're probably wearing the wrong size or taping too tight. Other possibilities are your pants are weird (too loose?) and are rubbing against the diaper or you're sitting on weird chairs (though sounds like you work from home sometimes so we're probably just talking office chairs). I've only ever had a couple of diapers split (better dry/crinklz) while riding my bike as I sit down kind of aggressively while riding I guess, so I just stop wearing those types of diapers while biking. I guess the other possibility is their products are just declining in quality if all the batches are from the last year or two.

They could fit better, but I'm within the recommended size and they fit fine.
Dubious Posted July 5 Author Posted July 5 I wore a Megamax for 40 hours to stress test it, over 2 working days, only changed the inserts. No issues, other than a slight smell on the 2nd day.. Curren Peekabu is leaking fluff and this time I have mostly been sitting on the couch. So I have a new work diaper, and keep ABU for other stuff.
technomonkey Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I think to save on cost diaper plastic has gotten thinner. Back in march I had a diaper split and fluff down the leg of my jeans. lucky i only had one wetting.

I've had Tena split the plastic in the rear, so I stopped using them for work, and now I have stopped using Abu for work. The glue is just terrible. They warn about using oil products as it might loosen the glue, but I don't use any oil products where the glue is bad.
liljim57 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 This reminds me of something I read before about stuffing more fluff into a diaper. As it goes you take about 3 diapers apart take the fluff out of 2 of them and add it to the 3rd and glue it back together. This kinda works on cheaper diapers to make them better.

Alas, these have the bad habit of leaking their fluff out (I suspect this may have led to their discontinuance even before CTDC decided to call it quits). Back when I was still working, I wore the discontinued NSC supreme lites (which replaced the discontinued Attends Advanced Absorbency). Now I pretty much wear Megamaxes all the time, but I did order their new Megamax Lite which are about the same thicknesswise as the old SupremeLites. Only comes in white however.

DiaperboyEddie12 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 @Dubious have you tried calling plastic pants over your diaper when at work? and a black onesie as well to hide the fact you’re wearing a diaper?
Everydayperson Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Oh boy, that's about the worst place you'd want a diaper to split. I have had this experience before, never with an ABU product, but with an old attends. I was wearing it all day and towards the end of the day I felt some wetness on the back of my legs in my pants. When I pulled my pants down there was pulp everywhere as the plastic back had completely split. Thankfully I was travelling and wasn't around anyone I knew and no one noticed. But yikes still!

To be fair, it's definitely not toxic to your skin, but I doubt it's safe to be eaten (especially with whatever it absorbed).

I don't like plastic pants so I rather just wear Megamax. T-shirt works fine. Onesie is actually worse as it will hug the diaper and show the outline. Also get clingy when sweating. Abu is fine for everything else.
