Post Void Dribble

As I get older post-void-dribbling is becoming an issue. Luckily I am always in some level of protection, but it means not being completey dry most of the time. Any tips?

I think from reading your posts over the years, you wear cloth training pants during the day for the dribbles.  Do you wear any waterproof pants over them, or do you not dribble so much that the cloth training pants get so wet that your outer pants get wet?

If no prostate issues, I have no idea what to do.  Keagle exercises might help unless there is a physical problem with your sphincter.  I take 2 flowmax pills each day.  Not for leaks and not so I won't have to run to the bathroom so often.  I take them because my stream is weak unless I do.  Even with the flowmax I pee every 1-1/2 to 2 hours and I get up 5+ times a night to go to the bathroom to pee.  I am overweight and have type 2 diabetes.  Both contribute to frequent urination.

I think unless you really physically try and hold it after you pee, exercise that sphincter to strengthen it as much as possible, post pee dribbles will probably happen.  A urologist might have better answers.

It seems to be part of the deal, unfortunately. If you stand for a bit and "drip dry" before repackaging the equipment, you might be able to mitigate some of this effect. I long ago reconciled myself to mostly being at least somewhat we, although in a good diaper, it's not really very noticeable for the first third of a diaper's life, anyway. But I typically wear 2 - 3 diapers in a 24-hour period, so after the first hour, I'm inevitably a bit damp, and after a few hours, there's wetness. It really only gets on my nerves in the last few hours - sometimes, if I'm wearing a grandiose product, something good for 16+ hours, I might be at hour 10, and start thinking, "It would be nice not to be wet for a while", but I generally try and see it through, if I can, because over time, that saves me a fair bit of money. An exception would be if I find myself unexpectedly having to go somewhere - I don't leave the house in a diaper with more than 8 hours on the clock very often, other than to walk the dog maybe, or to run to the post office. My theory is, they know, anyway - they deliver my diapers.

I think it's part of conditioning when in diapers. I'm at the stage of leaking sometimes when changing. I have a limited time stop it before it happens on its own

Back. yrs ago,  when I started to have dribbling after I went to the restroom, I had a big spot on the front of my pants at a weekly meeting at work, and I was trying to keep my laptop etc in front of it till I got to my work truck, after that I had a pull-up on every day, I figured I would rather take a chance of the diaper ? I didn't want a spot on my pants. I had already wanted to wear 24/7,, way beforehand so it gave me an excuse to let my wife know I was going to wear all day also, I was wearing a diaper to bed before that, and that was when I was learning to pee laying down....But I think age, and when your body and mind are used to wearing? I think you relax more, My stream went down to a dribble yrs ago.. I had to sit down too pee in the toilet 🚽 many many yrs ago...due to a weak stream..

@DailyDi: See a Urologist - or ask your primary care - about your prostate size....  OK, if 44 is about right, you still a bit young for an enlarged prostate starting to impact this area.  While I do have early onset of BPH, your still a bit younger than my onset.

Sometimes I'll push from the back to front after going; that pushes everything out for me. I push my muscles after the main stream I'll drip little bits out that way. Then push from back to front with my hand.

@DailyDi: Looks like you fixed that....  But 48 is still young to have this issue.

I have faced this issue for several decades now, starting mid 50's  Several prostrate surgery's since than but only gotten worse.

I have resolved my pants wet issues by only sitting to urinate and waiting a bit after, and always wearing pads in my panties which I slide up immediately as I get off the pot.  I still get hollered at by my girls if I do not take a tissue to the dribbles on front of the seat after getting up, but typically  the bathroom floor stays dry if I am still wearing panties.  Not so much if I am undressed to change into night clothes or get into the shower, but that is another issue.

May I suggest wearing Polyurethane pants between you trousers and what ever underwear you use.

It is breathable, so almost un-noticeable in hot weather and body heat dries out even quite large "dribbles".

PUL pants are good for containing drips/leaks but they do smell a lot after getting wet, I use them nightly over my cloth diapers, and if the diaper becomes soaked, the PUL covers are in need of a very good wipe out in the morning with a soapy cloth which works for only a few cycles, and than into the washer.

I like pads for the day as not only do they absorb the wet and keep your skin dry, but most do a great job of preventing odor!

You are confused.

While you may be able to smell an offensive effluvia from wiped polyurethane laminate (Poly-Urethane Laminated to cloth, hence PUL), Polyurethane Gary Euroflex  (Clear PVC like plastic pants) do do suffer in the same way.

Well a month or so ago I noticed that when I thought I was finished I truly wasn't. I would go as normal then put everything away. Then immediately notice i was forming a one to two inch diameter wet spot in my underwear. And after this happened at work a few times, it was rather uncomfortable for me. So now after i think I am done standing at the toilet or urinal at work. I stand there a little longer to get all of the post dribbling finished. Sucks getting older, and I will be turning 64 soon.

Now that I have started that practice, life is good once again and the wet spots in the underwear are gone.

I started doing the dribbling back when I was still working and said I would rather wear a pull-up to work than have a silver dollar spot in my pants, mine didn't stop the dribbles like yours, it happened afterwards when I was walking .. And I got used to the pull-up. So it gave me the excuse o wear daytime diapers..

Ya, I've had that about the last 5 years. Actually what made me start going 24/7 (I'd been working on bedwetting training before that)

I started with pads during the day but went to Abena which is nice as a single "once a day" solution.

I think the dribbling has increased some over time... noticing even on days with no "accidents" that the Abena is clearly wet by bedtime.

I've had this issue for over a decade and its the main reason goodnights or cloth training pants are my main undies. Part is a legit issue part is me just rushing when in a bathroom thats not at home. I hate public bathrooms....

@DailyDi

Post void micturition / post-micturition dribbling / post void dribble PMD is a primarily male issue due to the methology of urine elimination from the male body as oposed to the female body.

Males have a protrusion from the body which contains the urethra (tube from the bladder to the tip of the penis). Since this protrusion can be bent / squashed, that action can cause some restriction along the urethra which, without the bladder wall stretching, the

This normally starts in childhood where a child dribbles the quantity of urine that exists between the external urinary sphincter and the tip of the penis. Males are taught to shake it after voiding and before putting it away to attempt to remove this amount of urine.

As the body gets older, this external urinary sphincter, after bladder emptying, can be partially open as it fails to get the signal to close unless the bladder contracts completely, and empties completely. As a result, when one bends the penis before stuffing it back in Y fronts creates a fold in the urethra, where the art of walking / moving, laughing (directly/indirectly adding pressure on the bladder causes the retained urine to pass the relaxed sphincter and also pass the bend in the penis.

A second reason for this leakage is where the bladder empties by gravity rather than the constriction of the bladder (bladder is a musclar bag). As a result, the bladder retains some urine that can weep out onto the persons clothes.

Diaper wearing behaviour can create a semi-dependency which can accellerate this issue where the sphincters are in a semi-relaxed state and the bladder never gets the chance to fully expand.

This is the type of issue that a Urologist or a specialised medical practionner should be consulted as bladder retention issues can allow bacteria to mutliply to dangerous levels.

Some of the intermediate solutions that should be considered is increasing fluid intake like water and/or cranberry juice as to avoid high concentrations of urine being retained within the bladder and also as a methodology of flushing the bladder and kidneys to reduce the risk infections.
