DailyDi Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 If you follow my posts you know I recently gave up my anxiety medicine (Klonopin) because my provider was treating me like an addict (drug tests, pill counts) despite my giving him no reason to think I abuse the small dose I was taking. Anyway, what do you guys and gals do for anxiety when it hits? I'm struggling with anxiety dreams at night that are hard to shake out of when I wake up.
foreverdl Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 I really feel bad about you both dealing with headaches and now this, my pain management Dr told me that all of the med laws have changed as of this year, and I have had to do random drug testing to see if I am taking my meds or selling them, etc.. That's why I took myself off of my morphine a few months ago, I got mad as you did with the testing, and all of it. Have you googled it to see if there are any natural, herbal or ? that would be close to what you were taking ? Unfortunately people are abusing a lot more meds than they use to. And those of us that really need them have to suffer. 1

Firefly 35 Posted May 10, 2025 Posted May 10, 2025 @DailyDi is medical marijuana legal where you live? Peppermint tea also works wonders. The peppermint has to be grown or bought fresh because apparently bagged tea doesn't have the same natural oils and such. The best part it grows so fast you basically never have to buy more once it's established. 1
wyrdone Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Disclaimer: I have no clue about medical level anxiety. I have several things I do for anxiety. Meditations of several types mostly Taoist or Zen, but that’s if I can calm it down to the point where I can actually do them. NSDR also works for me (body scan, yoga nidra, etc) If I need to function then I need to do something with my hands. Boading balls and grip trainers are the adult version. I just got a squeezy toy that goes on a key chain that’s the stealthy version. Other than that…sleep. I can sleep all day, or just lay down and my head plays its own stories and movies that have developed over the years. Eventually it settle out. I’m not sure if that’s anxiety though. I also use St John’s Wort and CDP choline when it’s long term, that combo just works for me. There are contraindications, so you should talk to a medical professional before trying. I have amassed a lot of knowledge about what does and does not work for me through an excessive amount of reading plus trial&error. Plus I’m too scared to go to a therapist. Unless their name is Don and they do tai chi. By strange coincidence I’ve met 2 PHDs in psychology that fit that description and I miss both of them. 1
HappyNappin Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Since going on medical melatonin I don't dream when im asleep, only after I'm awake again but usually can easily steer the 'dream' which is really more of a hallucination. But I used to use dreams to process thoughts and predict or envision future activities, but I don't get that anymore leaving me feeling a bit lost. I'm also no longer able to fall asleep on demand during the day to reset anxious freezes, leaving me to battle my fears alone in my head which is scary and can often leave me totally absent and unable to move. I will be seeking help for this as soon as I can, but I need to not present it to the doctor as a side effect of sleep restructuring and more as a separate issue that requires treatment
cipher12 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but my therapist strongly advocates for purposeful transitions from event to event, using the senses trick in grounding exercises to help move your body and mind from one state of being to another. So stretching, stepping into the sun, incense, gum, whatever best helps "reset" or break your mind away from the task you were doing, and either give your brain the space for nothing / relaxation, or to begin processing the next thing ahead. So, for example, waking up from anxious dreams. Perhaps a morning reset, where you make sure to engage all of your senses in a relaxing way (I like pressure creation as a reset, and different scents like lemongrass, or lavender), maybe help give your brain the space from the night's anxieties to focus on the day ahead. 💕

foreverdl Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I have also in the recent , maybe 2 months ago weaned myself off the last opioid I was on. I am only on a couple pain meds that are not as bad in all ways, I take Gab, but in large amounts....way over the amount that a regular Dr can give me, so I still have to stay with the pain management at least for now.. I think my new Dr was trying to lower all my meds,, Since the government and then several months ago my main Dr passed away.. So we wait to see if the new one taking over is worth a Shit.
Firefly 35 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I've heard a deficiency in magnesium can often cause anxiety, insomnia and related conditions. Supposedly eating leafy greens, broccoli, salmon, and/or most types of nuts can restore magnesium levels.
