"Sarah you have to go to school. Your 13 now not some little kid, you can't stay home either!. Mommy has to go to work." Linda says as her 13 year old daughter sits on her bed in her pajamas whining about not wanting to go to school.

Sarah moved on her bed and heard the crinkle of the mattress protector on her bed along with the crinkle of her nighttime diaper. "I don't want to go to school. It is boring." The real reason was she had a test in her science class. Taking test made her nervous no matter how well she knew the material. "Can't you just call the school and tell them. I will not be there today and let me go back to sleep. I am old enough to take care of myself while you are at work."

Linda sighed. "Honey that's the issue your not big enough or old enough to stay home alone yet. We are already running late. If your not going to school then your coming to my job with me and I don't think you'll like that very much." Linda says matter of factly, while looking at her teenage daughter putting in a soaked night diaper sitting on her princess bedspread. For being 13 she still only looked like a 10 year old still.

Sarah whined. "I am old enough. I'm 13 years old. All my other friends' moms let them stay home alone. It isn't fair." She sighs and flops back on her bed causing a louder crinkle. "Well what is the difference. I don't like school very much. Always being taught things that are unimportant. Who cares what the inside of a frog looks like or what kind of rock it is. I'm not going to be an animal doctor or work construction. So it is useless info. I'm going to be a fashion model and an online influencer."

Linda shakes her head. "Well I'm not your friends moms I'm your mom. And if your not going to school like your friends and the other big kids then your coming to work with me today like a little kid and I'm sure you'll make friends there. Now are you going to get changed our of that diaper or do I have to change and dress you for the day?" Linda says sighing but not sounding upset.

Sarah pouts. "You are mean." She stands up. "I'll get dressed. I'm not a little child." Sarah pulled her pajamas off and dropped them on her bed. She walked to the bathroom to removed her diaper. Sarah cleaned herself up and then came back to her room. She put on a pair of underwear. Then a pair of shorts and a t shirt. Sarah slipped her shoes on and cleaned her glasses. She put them on and then left her bedroom. "Happy now? I'm up and dressed."

Linda chuckles, "I'm mean because I asked you to change so you didn't get diaper rash or because I'm telling you how it is little one?" 

As makes it out to the living room saying she's dressed Linda laughs a little seeing Sarah in pink cloth shorts and a simple blue t shirt looking the part of a little kid who didn't wanna go to school butnher hair was still a mess.

"Hold up let me straighten up your hair first then we can head out. And I need you to promise to listen to me and the other grown ups at work today." Linda takes a hair brush out and starts brushing out Sarah's hair.

Sarah shakes her head. "No you are mean. Because you will not let me stay home alone like my friend's parents let them do."

Sarah shook her head. "My hair is fine. It is called bedhead and I worked hard getting it to look like that." She sighs. "I'm not making any promises. Because I am not a small child. I'm almost an adult." Sarah walked away from mom halfway through to go to the kitchen to get a pack of poptarts and a cup of Chocolate milk.

Linda sighs, and thinks to herself 'maybe the daycare at work will be the best place for her compared to going to school if this is her attitude today.' She walks back up to Sarah and brushes her hair into two pigtails. "There now that wasn't so hard, now come on let's go or we'll be late checking you in before I punch in." Linda says rushing Sarah off to the car and into the waiting booster seat.

Sarah saw her reflection in the fridge door. "I look like a toddler. Not a teenager." She turned around. "what do you mean check me in before you punch in?" Sarah didn't get an kind of answer to her question. She sat down in the booster seat and buckled herself in. Sarah put her cup in the cup holder on her booster seat and watched the cars passing by and the school bus from the kindergarten picking up kids.

Linda drove safely but quickly to work, unfortunately Sarah didn't know about the speed bumps in the parking lot and spilt the last bit of her chocolate milk on her shirt as they pulled in and parked in her mom's spot. She gets out quickly and moves to Sarah's side of the car.

"Mom, you made me spill on my chocolate milk on my shirt." She got out and looked at the building. "What do you do here? Study aliens and their spaceships? This place is huge. You could get lost in a place like this. Does it come with a tram and a tour guide?"

"Oh I knew I should have put a lid on that cup for you! Oh well it's no big deal." Linda breathes and says with a chuckle. "No silky girl, mommy works on very important things though. Now come on we need to get you checked in I'll be running late for sure!" Linda says taking g the silly looking 13 year old by her hand and leading her into the large building. They go into an elevator which has Sarah holding her mom's hand a little tight since she isn't a fan of them. Linda then guides Sarah around a corridor on the 3rd floor to a brightly lit room labeled "Delta Industries Daycare for employees children".

Sarah stops in her tracks when she sees the sign saying Delta Industries Daycare. "Why are we at a daycare? I'm not a child." She turns around and starts to walk away as quickly as she can back towards the elevators.

Linda stops Sarah by grabbing her arm. "You are a child Sarah. Just because your 13 doesn't mean you can do what you want. I told you to choose school or coming to work with me and you chose coming to work with me, plus you agreed o be good for all the adults. So please let me check you in so I can get to work. Just think how simple your day will be compared to school, your still getting a day off. So please do this for mommy." Linda needs down infront of her daughter saying all this in a caring motherly tone.

Sarah nodded. "Yeah, but I thought you would let me set at your desk and play on my phone or let me run errands for you. Not set in a daycare with children in diapers." She sighs. "Fine. I'll go to the daycare. Just to make you happy. Maybe there is a quiet place where I can play on my phone."

"I'm sorry you misunderstood me princess, and I hate to break it to you but you can't have your phone in there. But they do have tv and a ton of toys and coloring books. Just enjoy your day off from being a big kid and relax today. Thank you for being such a good girl." Linda days walking Sarah up to the desk to check her in.

"Why can't I have my phone in there? It is going to be really boring in there with no way to contact to civilization. Can I at least go wash the chocolate milk stain off my shirt? I don't want the workers to think I am a messy toddler."

"Honey those are the rules, and no I'm sorry we have no time. Now..." Linda gets cut off by the woman at the desk.

 

"Hey Linda I didn't expect to see you here, what can we do for you here?" The friendly looking woman with a fun childish name tag speaks up. Her name reads Tina.

"Hey Tina believe it or not I got one to drop off today, Sarah didn't wanna go to school today so I gotta sign her up quick." Linda says.

"Well that's ok, awe you got a spill on your shirt well I'm sure we got a shirt for you Sarah it's great to meet you!" Tina says waving at the small 13 year old from the other side of the desk handing Linda a few forms to fill out.

Sarah nodded shyly. "Yes mom hit a bump and I spilled my chocolate milk on my shirt. Luckily it didn't get on my shorts." She stood close to mom looking at the lady. Sarah was shy around new people and her size didn't help any with her shyness.

"Awe that's ok little one! We have a ton of cute tops and stuff that should fit you." Tina says taking the paper work that Linda signs quickly. 

Linda kisses Sarah on her her head. "Now I gotta go, remember you promised to listen to the adults and be good! I love you and I'll see you after my shift." And with that Linda ran to get to her floor leaving Sarah with Tina.

Tina saw Sarah was a little shy and came around the desk, "Hey don't worry you'll have fun and mommy will be back before you know it. Now how about we put your shoes in your cubby and go find you a new top huh?" Tina says kneeling down to Sarah.

Sarah started to cry a little bit as she saw Linda rushing off leaving her alone with Tina. She was snapped out of it when she heard Tina talking to her. Sarah slowly nods and walks over to the chair. She took her shoes off and handed them to Tina. Sarah looked around the room at the other kids and the room. She was scared and nervous. Sarah starts to think maybe she made the wrong decision this morning about not going to school.

Tina helps untie Sarah's shoes, even though she knows Sarah is 13 she can't help but to treat her just like one of the toddlers not just from her smallish size, or the large chocolate milk stain on her shirt (which made her think sippy cups and bibs will be needed.) But how sad she was that her mommy left her here. She puts up Sarah's shoes in a cubby that now has her name on it. Linda puts out her hand "come on little one let's find you that new top, are you hungry? It's snack time currently I can get you set up with snack after."

Sarah crosses her arms and huffs. "I'm not a little one. I'm a teenager. I'm only here because my mom tricked me. I thought she was going to let me stay in her office all day. Not put me in a room with toddlers." A bit of her fiery attitude came out despite her feeling shy. Sarah shook her head. "No I am not hungry. I had a poptart on my way here."

"I'm sorry Sarah force of habit. Well what about a drink since you spilt some of your drink? I can get you one and set you up by a TV or in a fun toy area?" Tina says leading the girl into the large walk in closet room filled with different looking pullups, diapers and tons of clothes all looking toddler and babyish. Tina didn't try to provoke any more attitude from the silly girl.
