Mindlessly Diapered in the Daily Mail

Coming to this thread a bit late, but I think it’s worth commenting that the Daily Mail appears quite simply to have reprinted a story from some US source, without even bothering to translate “diapers” to “nappies”, put “US” in front of “East Coast” or translate $300 to £. So they must simply have thought it good clickbait. I am sure that if they had edited it at all, it would turned out a much more negative article.
My apologies to @elfy for giving the Mail a click, but I do admire MD’s candour and was curious to see how she came across.

No one other than us is ever going to understand why someone wants to live fulltime as a baby. The least we can do is express that understanding. 

Is it wise for her to be so open? Perhaps not, but that is not for us of all people to be critical of. If ABDL is to ever be understood and accepted, it will need a whole lot of Paigeys to go before us opening the minds of a rather close-minded public.

I agree with you:  Paigey is an ADULT,  being herself, and is not doing anything inappropriate. She is being open and honest about things, and that is a good thing, as AB/DL lifestylers seem to always be negatively depicted and shown as weird and "non conforming."   I understand that people may not understand the lifestyle, or why someone chooses to live as they do, but part of being who you are is in my mind,  means we try to help people understand.  We need to have more positive experiences, to balance the negatives.

I had been lurking here for years, asking myself the same types of questions:  Is it strange to want to wear diapers/be treated as a baby/etc, Am I weird/strange?  and a whole host of things I kept asking myself - I finally have accepted that I have the feelings I have, although, sometimes it is hard to put them into words.  Paigey is living her life as a full-time baby, and as long as she does it in an appropriate manner, and does not cross the line, she will be fine, and by doing her youtube stuff, she is actually is helping people to understand what being an AB is:  She may do it in different ways, have differing opinions, like parts of the lifestyle, while not others, but she **IS** the real deal.

As @Protection eludes to: Being an AB/DL is a lifestyle choice.  The problem in my mind is: NOT that people decide to follow the lifestyle.  The problem is that the MEDIA portray us a whole different way:  They try to sensationalize the lifestyle as "weird, wrong, strange, etc."  Rags like DailyMail put a "spin" on it, and BAM, everybody is critical of it.  I believe that even if the lifestyle is put into the best light possible,   You would have people slamming it - as it is easier to criticize something that you do not understand or cannot comprehend, rather than to accept it and try to learn about it, and then understand what is going on.

So, we have a spectrum:  You have someone like in "My Strange Addiction" (@protection) who tells her friend, and she is able to accept it, and everything is cool, to a Middle of the road type deal when you have someone on Dr. Phil, explain the lifestyle, how they got involved, etc, and they are maybe shocked, but they are aware of it.  Then you have Tommy from DPF and he goes to Springer to talk about the lifestyle.  These, I consider to be the ones who are telling it like it is, and this is because they KNOW what they do, and they are not Embellishing anything.

Then, we get to the other end of the spectrum, where on "Taboo" Stanley is featured.  Not ONLY is he letting you know what he is experiencing, but then we have a Senator who takes it and makes it into a MASSIVE investigation.  I honestly think this went WAAAAY to far, and almost RUINED the guy.  If you are an AB/DL, this is where you DON'T Want to be, as your lifestyle is your LIFE - You have to be careful of stuff like this.

Why?  Because people who don't understand the lifestyle can be cruel: They can use this against you: Just like what can happen if the wrong person finds out about it: That happens, and you are "outed" unintentionally, or intentionally - Either way, It can place your life into the public eye:  If you are a public persona, you know that there are always gonna be people who may not accept or understand the lifestyle, but if someone "outs" you, that can be embarrassing:  Happened to me:  I made a mistake, and then all hell broke loose, and I had to come down HARD on people: Having incontinence is not a choice, and when you have the Professionals not handling something that they should have done in a professional manner, that says VOLUMES about whether they can be trusted.  Professionals that have the knowledge that you are Icon. are aware of it because they have it on a record, in your file:  They deal with it all the time, so why would they be freaking out - In my case, it embarrassed me, and I had to come out to my work volunteers, and close friends, because I was outed in a semi-public way - My mistake, but it could have been handled without all the fanfare......

Perhaps Not: But all the pictures show her doing what she does: Living life as a full time diapered AB - However, How can someone UNDERSTAND the lifestyle and what it entails and means if we don't have people that are willing to be open and honest about what is going on.  The only way more people will understand what we deal with is to educate themselves more.  Sure, people can be scared, not understand, be critical of someone's choices, but they **ARE** your choices, and no one else's:  A newspaper should be also be careful, because the more "fodder" that is in it., and the more spin is used, the consequences for the paper can be extremely bad, and can have negative impacts, but papers can also do the reverse: Good News, Good Spin, Good Vibes.

I’ve watched many of her videos on YouTube 

Shes adorable to say the least , and she does not endorse pushing this on those outside the AB community.

I don’t care for the porn part of her lifestyle but as an ABDL she does seem to show it’s just a different lifestyle

"Live and let live" thats what i say, i can never understand people that target others just because they are different. We are all different in our own little ways. If your AB enjoy, if your DL enjoy i know nothing will ever put me off doing what i do no matter what anyone says or thinks. ?
